  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How Badly has Matthew 19:9 been Corrupted?

Teaching anyone they can stop being a sinner is a false doctrine, my general point, and also the point of the Gospel. Everyone is bound to the spirit of disobedience regardless of the long and silky religious cloth and front row seats A lot of believers give that fact lip service but...

How Badly has Matthew 19:9 been Corrupted?

Thank you for your observations, Yes, I agree with your points. I'm merely using a different strategy and working on a much, much lower level than your points suggest. My fellow Protestants are all saying that the Bible teaches that, under certain circumstances, a divorcee can remarry, thus...

How Badly has Matthew 19:9 been Corrupted?

HIM, thank you for your well researched reaction to my article. Yes, I agree that the word 'except' could be substituted into most of the verses that you quote, and it would still make logical sense. And should someone do so, it would be a perfectly valid 'interpretation'. My main point is...

How Badly has Matthew 19:9 been Corrupted?

HIM, thank you for your comment. Did I miss something? Sorry, I'm only on this forum once or twice a week. 'Retraction'? Could you be a little more specific? I'm just a word-counter, and the beauty of numbers, is that it is impossible to argue against them. Either the ει is in only 1% of the...

How Badly has Matthew 19:9 been Corrupted?

Jamdoc. Congradulations on an excellent analysis of the subject. Well done. I reply: Agreed. And my argument that Jesus's statements was 'that she would remain married to all of them' is also merely a conclusion that is merely implied from the statements of Jesus. Jesus did not say that...

How Badly has Matthew 19:9 been Corrupted?

Isaiah 65:23 "They will not labor in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; they [are] the seed of the blessed LORD, and their offspring with them." In my opinion, in Isaiah 65:23, those words "will have offspring" have to be read in the context of the preceding phrase where God says that all...

How Badly has Matthew 19:9 been Corrupted?

Yah! a Bible Text. XD. Thank your for your arguments, and thank your for a Bible Text. The short answer to your argument: I disagree what Jesus answered 'nobody's. It is not a fact that Jesus said 'nobody's'. I argue that the statement of Jesus implies 'all seven of them'. The woman is a...

How Badly has Matthew 19:9 been Corrupted?

No Marriage After the Resurrection? Thank your for your assertions. I believe these assertions above are based on: Matthew 22:28-30; Mark 12:23-25 and Luke 20:33-35. But first let us establish three facts about angels: 1. Zec. 5:9 "Then lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there...

How Badly has Matthew 19:9 been Corrupted?

Nature of a Covenant in the Bible Theologians often confuse a Covenant with a Contract. Sewell&Kettle lawyers website says: "A covenant in contract law refers to a promise made by one party" On the same site: "Contract (or agreement) in the context of contract law, refers to a meeting of the...

How Badly has Matthew 19:9 been Corrupted?

Thank you for the comment. I counter with: 1 Cor. 6:16-18 says that when a man uses a prostitute, he becomes one with her. Could it be that 'sex makes them one', irrespective to how much DNA gets exchanged? Therefore, I argue that 'Marriage' cannot be '100% covenant'. Relations with a...

How Badly has Matthew 19:9 been Corrupted?

Yes, I agree that everything you have written is the 'standard' position on this issue - generally accepted by almost all Protestants and I'm pretty sure, almost all Catholics too. But I have some reservations - enlighten me if I'm wrong. How do you know that a covenant exists? Where is this...

How Badly has Matthew 19:9 been Corrupted?

I still say that divorce does not void a marriage, even if marriage is considered merely a contract or a covenant. [Image: a Pot, once destroyed, then repaired with lacquer and gold power - using a Japanese Craft called Kintsukuroi. [Image: Public Domain] Just as this pot, which was once in...

How Badly has Matthew 19:9 been Corrupted?

The law courts view every relationship as a contract/covenant - bag of rights and responsibilities - even with parents. Don't you think that the marriage relationship is partly covenant and partly physical. After all, two people exchanging DNA in places you can't wash off, sort of makes it...

How Badly has Matthew 19:9 been Corrupted?

Interesting. Thank you for posting it. I can see now where Dr. McFall gets his translation of the exception clause of Matthew 5:32, as 'I'm not talking about fornication'. I note that 'except for' is still listed last, which I presume means, least important, or least common. Robert424
