  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

WWJD? Seek Justice or Offer Mercy?

Hi A_Thinker, thank you for your thoughts I know they have good intentions and I'm sure Solomon would approve! However, would Jesus? They seem to indicate a preference towards self-interest and self-preservation and are these really compatible with Jesus's message at all? In fact - assuming...

Christian Bakers and Gay Wedding Cakes

Do you think gay penguins will burn in hell forever and also do you think they will be glad for the warmth as their time on earth was such an opposite experience?

WWJD? Seek Justice or Offer Mercy?

Forgive me if this is long, or if you don't believe me and if that is the case please treat it as a perfectly valid hypothetical situation for philosophical debate, however, this is a real account and I want to know what you think Jesus is asking me to do or not to do. So the post will be very...

Teacher tells 7th grade student to deny God or fail

What if God has proven His existence to some of us? Just because he either did not prove it to you, or else He did but you refused to accept it, does not make it less of a fact.

    once saved always saved?

Matthew 7:22-23 I'm also reminded of the parable where the master goes off to a distant land, and will return when least expected. Lucky is the servant who is doing what he should be when the master comes, however, the unfaithful servant will be severely beaten. I think it is important to be...

    Was John the Baptist Elijah?

As I was reading John just now I see in John 1:21 John the Baptist denies being Elijah, but doesn't Jesus tell us John the Baptist was Elijah but was not recognized? How do you reconcile this difference?

Sharing a bed, no sex, yay or nay?

Hey man, I don't know what to tell you whether it is right or wrong, but my hat's off to you for sharing a bed and not sleeping with her.

Is this business opportunity unethical / non-Christ-like

As my username suggests, I'm a Realtor. I'm being asked to interview with one of these "We buy your house fast" companies to list their properties and work for them as their Realtor. So if you aren't familiar with these companies, let me give you my take on them: There is a legitimate market...

Can you morally call yourself a Christian if you vote conservative.

So Donald Trump is the more virtuous candidate than say Bernie Sanders? Hmmmm... interesting.

When to give vs when not to give?

Not to oversimplify it, but I think Jesus would say give them the big room. There is no just & unjust here. It is simply self & others. If a man asks you for a coat give him your cloak as well. That would seem to imply taking the small room.

Formal Debate Peanut Gallery thread - Unmarried Co-Habitation is Morally Wrong ...

In my own uninformed opinion, which might be blatantly wrong, it is not cohabitation that is in and of itself sinful, but is probably unwise for a Christian couple as it leads to temptation to sin. Most people will not be able to control themselves and that cohabitation with your partner almost...

[PERMANENTLY CLOSED] Dead children go straight to heaven

This is exactly what I experienced. Once a believer in God but not in the divinity of Christ, I asked God to speak to me regarding the truth or falsehood of the Gospels. He responded quickly and undeniably in my life that Jesus is the Messiah and the Gospel is true. Knock and the door will be...

Liberals, why do you believe people are entitled to the work of others?

My bigget problem with this thread is that there all these posters and on the left side it says they are Catholic, Protestant, Non-Denominational or otherwise somehow affiliated with the Christian church and arguing over why we should not be helping the poor, how they just can't stand it, it is...

Liberals, why do you believe people are entitled to the work of others?

So if you build a successful trucking company, did you also pave the interstates? And if you founded a tech company, was it not bolstered by government research in technology? (ask Al Gore if you're not sure on this one) And if you are alive and well today is it not because many fought and...

Why do people like Trump become popular in the USA?

Okay there are a lot of conversations going on here.. With respect to Trump - people like him (particularly Republicans) because he says what he thinks (and particularly what they think) which is often not PC at all and in many ways bigotted. Look most people in the GOP would like to close the...
