  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Shuttle disaster

I think that NASA wanted the shuttle to be the mainstay of the space program for the next 2 or 3 decades. But I think this may change now. My own view is that NASA needs a new vision for the future. The time as come to develope a newer, cheaper, smaller, modernized launch vehicle--both for...

Why is it impossible to reconcile the existence of God, the Big Bang and evolution?

Jerry Smith, Oh I absolutely agree. I do not mean to exclude God's intent, but conserivatives do not believe that the writers are writing whatever they want. Inspiration from a conservative view means that the writers are writing what God intends. In your other post you cited how some...

Why is it impossible to reconcile the existence of God, the Big Bang and evolution?

I think that scientific investigation goes hand in hand with a Christian worldview (or theism in general). However I think that the protestant churches who adopt a conservative theology and view of the Bible have wrongly abandoned the scholastic life that has been central to the Christian church...

    What is evolution?

Evolutionists will consider any genetic change to be direct evidence of evolution. In fact, only changes in genetic "frequencies" (gene or rather allele frequencies), are required for evolution--so the biologists say. In other words, evolution occurs whenever a baby is born (there is a new...

    Behe's Bulldog

I don't know, he addressed to me which is redundant because the post was directed to.  It has an air of militancy to it. But thanks for the moniker approval.  I would try to say the same for you but... it's you name and... you're a "smith." :)

    Behe's Bulldog

lucaspa, I think you have missed part of his contention. In the above quote, you write that, "Behe initially contends that IC systems can not form by chance." This is only partially correct. Behe contends that it can't happen in successive steps--step by darwinian step as it is sometimes...

    Behe's Bulldog

Yeah I read the "Ken Miller Misrepresenting..." thread after I posted here and noticed that you showed how Behe uses a different term for the systems that require specific parts but are not well-matched. I had thought that he maybe created 2 classifications of IC, but I...

    Behe's Bulldog

Jerry Smith, I appreciate the comments and I don't think that Miller and Behe are likely to continue the discussion. My comment was only to set lower limit for IC systems, if it is even going to try to challenge darwinism. I thought I would mention it since a 2-part fulcrum/lever was...

    Behe's Bulldog

Jerry Smith, I stumbled upon an article I wans't aware of. Behe made a few last comments about Ken Miller's last response to Behe's first response to Miller's "Acid Test" article. If you are interested, the article can be found at www.arn.org. Click on "Featured Authors", then "Mike...

    Behe's Bulldog

I was thinking about the fulcrum & lever IC system that was discussed above and I think an important stipulation has to made. IC, as a meaningful challenge to darwinism, must include IC systems that are 3 or more parts. An IC system like the fulcrum & lever only has 2 parts, and hence, offers...

    Behe's Bulldog

JS, Well one doesn't need research projects to understand the concepts. In fact, one must have the concept developed before one can begin the research. And he is also well qualified to analyze biochemical systems. He does not need a research project to develope the concepts the he has...

    Behe's Bulldog

lucaspa, You had claimed that Behe made contradictory statements about IC systems with respect to parts being "well matched." I don't think this is correct. His statements are complementry, not contradictory. Behe, with his remark about the IC system of a lever and fulcrum not being...

    Behe's Bulldog

JS, I appreciate the response however, I do not want to enter into what has appearently been a sparring match between members here. I was just curious as defining criteria for IC systems. I don't think there is anything needed beyond what I had originally said. I do have one question...
