  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Tithing

that totally depends on what church you go to! some churches teach that if you do not tithe, you are cursed, you won't get healing, blah blah blah. which is probably why some people like myself can get touchy about the subject (my apologies if I am!)... but I have seen some bad bad bad...

    Tithing

well, unless you are making the case for tithing based on the fact that you think Jesus (a Jew under the law) did it. then I think it is up for discussion. I think if he had, well first of all, he was a jew under the law, so it still doesn't mean that a gentile would be doing it, but...

    Tithing

No. I don’t see anywhere in the scriptures where a gentile Christian is instructed to tithe. Give, yes. Regularly, yes. Make it a priority, yes. Be generous when there is a need, yes. Tithe, no. Christian giving is really well spelled out in the Bible. I mean, Paul ripped the Galatians...

    Tithing

THIS. THIS. THIS. (Swordsman) Amen Brother. and then of course pro tithe arguments will turn to Abraham (if Malachi and Leviticus applied to Christians why would you turn to Abraham, but whatever)... and of course, Abraham’s 10% to Mel was a one time event, not of his Income, after he was...

    Tithing

I’m doing my best to restrain my all out assault on tithe teachers, which unfortunately are pretty much all of them around where I live... they are so worried about their income though they love to say that they are not (30-45 mins a week on the subject would say otherwise)...I’m so glad that...

    Christians should Tithe or no?

Ew. I’m not seeing where God asks Christians to tithe... but whatever floats your boat. Praise the Lord!

    Christians should Tithe or no?

I’m blown away when Christians cite Malachi, Deut, Lev, Num as if it applies to Christians. Jesus himself calls tithing a less important matter of the law (which we obviously are not under) But that scripture is cited by pro tithing teachers as Jesus saying Christians should tithe... I’m just...

Is Tithing for the Christian today?

I've been loosely catching up on this thread, glad I found this forum. I think the tithing doctrine was a lot easier to push before the Internet and it's catching up to them... I don't mean that to sound so sinister, but I guess in some cases it might be... Though I really try to believe...
