  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

In Washington, It's Always The Year Of The Rat

Ann Coulter is just becomming a crazy loose cannon in almost everyone's opinions, and I am so glad. She should be taken with the same level of seriousness and legitimacy as wikipedia or tabloid magazines. It is a myth that public sector employees cannot be fired. Following the correct...

    What we need in 08

I would like to see a president make the tax system more progressive. I would like to see a plan for reduction of national debt. I would like to see a deficit elimination--as Dworkin said, you can't tax less and spend more. I would like to see greater environmental protections, and monetary...

DISCUSSION: Should wealthier members of society . . .

eh, you've lost me a little there, sir. 1. While it may be the case sometimes, not all of our nation's poor are people who don't get up and go to work. Some have physical and mental disabilities and cannot work. Some cannot afford the time or resources to find better jobs or get new skills, so...

DISCUSSION: Should wealthier members of society . . .

Some fun thought excursions: --As soon as this thread got going, welfare was instantly equated with charity, which is kind of a value loaded word. Rather than a handout, maybe welfare can be a mechanism to put all citizens on a more equal playing field? Maybe a way to give everyone a chance to...

I Always Thought That Hunting Was Going To Be Protected

Just because there are limits on one species in one state in one season doesn't mean the demise of hunting. Personally, I can't empathize with hunters, but even avid hunters can see the value in stricter regulation from time to time, can't they? It's economics, pure and simple.... Hunting...

    Does Tee Stand For Terrorist?

sure they're probably uptight, but that is not an excuse to trammel someone's freedom of expression. Wearing a tee shirt should not be considered a threat--unless it says something along the lines of, " I am wearing a bomb." Before long, we'll all be in red, white and blue jumpsuits.

News, Nissan offering same-sex insurance benefits to Tennessee employees.

I'm curious--and I'm not trying to be snotty here--do the Christian readers have a problem with a private corporation doing something like this? It isn't destroying the sanctity of something sacred--unless the Bible mentions insurance and I missed something in Sunday School. Do you think it is...

Does either the Right or the Left want the US to lose? (Americans only please)

Woah there! Let's slow down and think about what we're saying. Even if there was a clear definition of what "winning" in Iraq would look like, who's to say that it would result in a "peaceful, united, stable, and secure" country and "a full partner in the global war on terrorism"? Not even...

California Ban on Same-Sex Marriage Upheld

Here's the crux of the argument as I see it: Can't we separate religious ideas about marriage from political ones? While many of you may view marriage as a Christian institution, it is hard to deny that A). many other religions marry and B). marriage has many secular qualities in the US, like...
