CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't like mainstream Christianity. The world views us as pushy "Bible Thumpers" who's only agenda is to convert the world to Christianity. The fact of the matter is that Jesus told us to spread the message to those who were willing to hear. He didn't say we had to convert people - that would mean trying to affect their free will. He didn't say we had to force it on those who didn't want to hear it, because he wants people to come to him of their own accord. I don't follow a lot of the "routines" of present day Christians because I'd rather live my life for Christ the way I feel called to do instead of following the rest of the crowd. I don't go to church because I have yet to find one that makes me feel welcome - and if I can't feel welcome among believers, there's a problem.
