  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Faith and Obedience

Dan, the Reformation was founded on 4 pillars of which you and others express here. Unfortunately only one is true... that is we are saved by grace alone. The other 3... faith, Christ (Holy Spirit) and the bible alone are not sound Christian doctrine. St Paul himself tells us to hold fast to...

    Faith and Obedience

Hendrick, I think you make a good point concerning the difference between sanctification (salvation) and justification. While the latter has to do with sin and therefore the law, the former has to do with unity or, if you will, friendship with God. Both have to do with obtaining and maintaining...

    Faith and Obedience

DW, I think you are playing with words when saying Jesus is grace or salvation. Jesus is the 2nd person of the blessed Trinity. Salvation is a process human beings go through to become sanctified. Grace is a created substance (spiritual) that God infuses a soul with In order to sanctify a...

    Faith and Obedience

You've come very close to the truth but in order to to get there fully one has to be in context of the whole bible. As St. Paul said we are '"saved by grace through faith." Also as St. Peter insisted "baptism now saves you." From your texts and what I've just quoted it is clear faith is the...

    Has Muslim Theology influenced Iconoclasm?

David, I see here many have addressed the pre-Protestant occurrence of iconoclasm which in fact is why the Church has it included in her list of official heresies. I won't reiterate this aspect of the topic but would rather address the modern Protestant problem. Simply put sacred scripture...

What is a healthy view of sex ?( personal/mature)

Far Side, First I say the quote at the bottom of your question says much about your mindset. As I read it you have a very secular mindset that does not easily allow the opinions of other persons. This is how it's meant to be taken because the non-Christian world is self-seeking and not...

How can I know I am saved

Helga, I agree with others here who gave you advise to seek help with the abusive problem. It's dangerous to let it go and extremely hard to try to solve it on your own. You need insight from others who have succeeded in correcting a similar situation as well as the strength they can lend to...

Are we allowed to partake in Christmas?

First off, Christ did not write any books, rather he instituted a church. Second, he gave this church the mandate, and consequent authority, to teach, govern and sanctify. In the process of executing this the Church reaches out to pagans, where they are at, and draws them into the body of...

Supreme Court Overturns Texas Abortion Law

...agreed, these types of regulations are an end-run around the 1973 Roe law. Simply put it is our moral duty to chip away at this bad law if we cannot attack at it's root. No woman has a right to kill her children at any age and any law that would support this kind of brutal practice is one of...

The first calling of man, Steward of the Earth

Jehoiakim, I find this an interesting post. I would like you to clarify what you mean by "first calling" in context of the gospel itself? From my perspecitve I see our first calling is to know, love and serve God (as it says in the older catechetical formula). In serving God we are to do His...

Could There Be a Partial Soul Sleep?

Jason, "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." (2Pet. 1:20-21 NIV) "He...
