    Which OS are you using?

Kubuntu (well Ichthux actually) is my main system on all the computers I use (home+work), except on my laptop which has a multiboot Kubuntu + Mac OS X, but I mostly use Mac OS on it because it's a PowerPC and official support for Ubuntu on PowerPC is discontinued.

Lets have fun today....why are you not running Linux?

Well my job is to install Linux on servers, not on Windows desktops... I haven't had Windows on any of my machines ever, so I can't really help you with this...

Looks Like M$ has Copied Apple, Again

Note that MacOS supports multi-buttons mice since MacOS 8 back in the 90's. It's only up to you to get the USB mouse you like and use it under MacOSX and the right button and scroll wheel should work without a problem.

Lets have fun today....why are you not running Linux?

Hehe... Well I work on setting a fully automatic install for my company lately, using FAI, so I kind of install Debian 10 times every hour for test purposes (sarge/etch, i386/amd64) and I'll be doing so until technicians can just select the kind of OS/software/release/architecture they need to...

    How's Vista treating ya

Could surely be an interesting OS... I just would be really disappointed to pay 3 times the price of MacOSX (which I believe is much better), a million times the price of a Linux OS (Debian or Ubuntu being among my favorite) and get an OS that doesn't allow me to do what I want on my computer...

Lets have fun today....why are you not running Linux?

Because I treated my Linux so bad on my Powerbook G4 that it died while I was upgrading to Feisty (Ubuntu 7.04) and PowerPC being not officially supported anymore I'm searching for a way to find a new install CD image... Now I guess I should just find myself a nice Thinkpad to keep developping...

    Which is better

There's no need for such programs as antiviruses. Use a secure OS and secure your computer by not opening the ports you don't need. Vista will not get any good antivirus anyway according to Symantec and Kapersky, since it seems Live OneCare is a pain and Vista's "security features" prevent...

    Best Firewall

I think the best is to use openBSD as a firewall. Using Linux is pretty good too, as it allows to open only the ports you need and set iptables rules.

    Programming In C?

C is useful to learn because most Linux apps are written in C. However, there are easier languages to begin with. Ada is an interesting language to begin with as it's very strict and teaches a lot of concepts that you also find in C. There are lots of other open-source projects that need...

    Linux Destro

I agree that Debian is not a great idea, especially as you can't exactly know when the new version with new software is being released. Ubuntu is more user-friendly (although there's not much of a difference on a server actually) and is released once every 6 months. You could also use Ubuntu...

    Linux Destro

I wouldn't use Mandriva for a LAMP/DNS server, I'd use a Debian or Ubuntu server install instead. Ubuntu as a LAMP option on the server install CD. As of the DNS, it seems you might want to have a DNS+DHCP server on the server, so you can provide IPTs to your machines, too.

    USB flash drives

I've had my usb key for years. It's 256 MB and I haven't filled it, eventhough I've partitionned it. If you're only going to put word processing documents on it, you can put at least 500 documents on a 256 MB key... or 2000 on a 1GB... So you really don't need to worry about the size ;)

    Windows Vista

Now there's a big difference between having to get new hardware because the OS requires more powerful one, and having to get other hardware because the one you have is not supported. On Linux, contrarily to Windows, the older the hardware is, the more likely it is to work, so you can get old...

    Myspace taking over the world?

Some time ago, I closed most of my accounts on such sites (MySpace, that I hardly ever used, Orkut, Friendster, Multiply and many others). If ever used, these websites were using my time for nothing, and were not bringing any good.
