  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know which church to look to for guidance

I think you just want to complain. Are you born-again? According to your second paragraph you understand what you want to believe. So, find a church that believes that. Stranger

Slave Bible From the 1800s Omitted Key Passages That Could Incite Rebellion

I understand the letter to Philemon very well. Paul was not writing against slavery. He was writing to have a slave freed who had become a Christian, so that he could serve with Paul. People like to jump on the band wagon of slavery as evil and want to force this belief on the letter to...

    Needing advice in my struggles.

No, there really isn't 'being good enough'. I praise God that He has revealed the saints in Scripture, who are His people, as sinners. We all come up short. Understand, our failures and sins do not surprise God. They surprise us. We usually think we were a little better than that. But we...

Slave Bible From the 1800s Omitted Key Passages That Could Incite Rebellion

I don't have to demonstrate it. The Bible is the Word of God and Truth. I just declare it. Same with God and Jesus Christ. Quort

    Needing advice in my struggles.

Do you attend your church regularly? I see you are Pentecostal. Does what they believe and teach contribute to your feelings of failure? If your church is somewhat legalistic, this can cause feelings of failure and being not accepted by God. It is important for the believer to know God's...

Slave Bible From the 1800s Omitted Key Passages That Could Incite Rebellion

That was the point of my question. No one knows if Onesimus was freed or not. Everyone wants to assume he was. The fact is that Paul returned him and left it up to Philemon to make the decision. Quort

Slave Bible From the 1800s Omitted Key Passages That Could Incite Rebellion

That's interesting. You have no idea what the motive of the missionaries were in removing said verses. Yet the removal of the verses would declare the motive. Are you interested in the motive? Quort

Opinion is all I was given in post #64. Yet you said nothing. Why? Oh, never mind, I see you're an atheist also. And yall are so big on 'truth'. Quort

White Supremacy and America's Dominant Religion

Affirmitive Action declares white supremacy. You ignore everything else that I said and simply jump on the white supremacy band wagon. Do a little thinking for yourself. Quort

I'm not sure what you are trying to say here. Be specific. What was the motives of the missionaries in taking out certain passages? And what passages were taken out? Pay attention to what has been said. Quort

Slave Bible From the 1800s Omitted Key Passages That Could Incite Rebellion

Yes, Onesimus was a slave. No revelation there. Paul would like Philemon to free him. OK. Philemon didn't have to free Onesimus. Was Onesuimus freed? Quort
