  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I believe my Dad, who is involved with church leadership, is cheating

Thank you for the replies, everybody. What is really terrible, to me, is that, in addition to him being my father, I have always greatly admired him and considered him one of my best friends and greatest role models. I am the oldest of three boys. I feel trapped by this situation. I feel that...

I believe my Dad, who is involved with church leadership, is cheating

He asked me to go to the car and bring him his phone at a store, and something popped up, which at first I thought nothing of. I looked down to see who it was so I could let him know if it was important (he was in the restroom, and I was sitting outside). It was a long-time family friend, and I...

Warren Buffett calls for more taxes on 'mega-rich'

But those very few should set an example and practice what they preach, no?

    Perry: Running Texas

Rick Perry also supported Al Gore in 1988; hypocritical much?

Warren Buffett calls for more taxes on 'mega-rich'

No law prevents Mr. Buffet from sending in a few bonus million a year to the IRS. A problem I have with increased taxes, even on the über rich, is that our government takes in a ton of money as it is. Our problem is spending and wasting too much. We need real spending cuts; starting with ending...

One good reason not to vote for Ron Paul

Even if they hate us for it, Libertarians need to save them from themselves. You may see it as a useless analogy, but have you seen The Dark Knight? Batman saves the people on the ferries and helps trap the Joker, then prevents Two-Face from killing the Chief. Despite all of the good Batman just...

Ron Paul's Iowa GOP Debate Question & Answers

The immigration status shouldn't really be the responsibility of the business owner; it should be the responsibility of the federal and state governments to prevent illegal immigration from happening in the first place: http://www.ronpaul.com/on-the-issues/border-security/ Forcing a child to...

    Bachmann wins straw poll

She barely edged out Paul in her home state, despite the MSM(especially FOX News)'s blatant bias against Paul. I hope that the party realizes Bachmann's chances of actually winning the election are slimmer than those of Sarah Palin, whose chances aren't too much better than those of a...

    The next president will be...?

...Ron Paul, hopefully. ...more of the same, probably. The last Republican to get elected was bad, as was the last Democrat. So maybe we'll go back to the Republicrap, or maybe we'll stick with the Democrap. In the end, it's still crap, regardless of the prefix you want to give it.

    Universal HealthCare Discussion

As is life expectancy, though. I agree; especially recently, we've really emphasized "better safe than sorry" with screenings. That's a good idea. The only thing that might be skewed is that, obviously, the Western World (especially North America and the UK) has such dangerously high obesity...

    Universal HealthCare Discussion

That is an excellent point; I'd never really thought of it that way.

    Universal HealthCare Discussion

I was wondering that as well... Anyway, if certain states want to have a public option for health insurance, I'm fine with it. I'm adamantly against the federal government providing a national one, however, if only because we are simply too populous and diverse of a country to insure...

To Christians: How can I have faith?

There is some Biblical archaeology that has been affirmed by non-Christian sources or objectively by Christians, but concepts such as the <10,000 year old earth and a 6-day creation are contradicted by multiple common archaeological findings and beliefs. For a few primary reasons... 1) I want to...

U.S Credit Rating Has Been Downgraded

The US is much larger than any European country in terms of population; providing insurance for >300,000,000 people is roughly equivalent (if Wikipedia's stats are close to right; note that I actually bumped up the populations of some countries since some numbers are from 2008/2009) to providing...

U.S Credit Rating Has Been Downgraded

Sorry if this steps on some toes but, especially on economics, guess what? Obama sucks. Bush sucked. Pelosi sucks. Boehner sucks. Reid sucks. McConnell sucks. 1) End the wars. 2) Reform entitlements. 3) Close tax loopholes; mega-corporations should not pay less income tax than someone that...
