  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Why are some Christians against rock music?

May he strike me down this very moment :P

Why are some Christians against rock music?

So, in other words, you're saying any art, music, movies, bowel movements, books, etc. that do not glorify god should not be done, as they are in essence sinful? Doesn't that interfere with your life? Why does everything have to come full circle to god? I don't know about anyone else here, but I...

On the brink of not beleaving (please comment need help).

Sorry to butt in, but why is it completely out of conflict for god to guide evolution, but not for him to guide the creation of life through natural means? Abiogenesis is the idea that life began by chemical means, do you propose that evolution happened, god guided, however god reached down to...

A potential cause for 'sex is bad' attitude?

Freudian ideas about sexuality in America are quite interesting. Freud stated that the human Id, or instinctual side of our personality, has two basic desires, sex and aggression. When one is satisfied very well, the other can be held back in daily life. In America, sex is taboo. There is a...

    Where is the grey?

Very informative post, there isn't a lot I can say without inciting an off topic debate, but there is one idea which stuck out. Two actually looking back. Christians with weapons mistrust god because they choose to place extra defenses instead of trusting he will look out for them. Does this...

    Why is the Bible Interpretable?

But there are a lot of lines which are clearly metaphors, like praying to Jesus allows you to move mountains. Obviously that isn't cut and dry. If it was cut and dry, than it would be obvious to all of us, not just you.

    Assigning value to a life

All lives are of equal value to me, to assign more value to the lives of others paves the way for groups of people to exist without value in my eyes.

    Why is the Bible Interpretable?

If god loves us all, why can the bible fit different interpretations and not just one? There are Christians who believe the only way to god is belief in Jesus, some believe good works are needed, some believe true belief in any other religion or lack of one can lead to heaven. Some believe a...

    Where is the grey?

As I said, I'm not awfully familiar with the bible, but I remember bits and pieces of verses. Is there not a verse where Jesus encourages his followers to take up the sword against the enemies in a time of war? I'm sorry if that's too vague, but my question is. Sure, Jesus says this, but then...

    Where is the grey?

Here's one of the main ideas that sets me against most faiths, the gray area. The Bible does tell us what is right and wrong, to adherents of Christianity, the Bible is seen as the ultimate guide to morality. However, as an ultimate guide, I've always wondered about situations which conventional...

ALL BIG LETTERS, I MAKE ALLAH PLEASED WITH BIG LETTER!!!! K, enough of that, I'm kind of insulted, lets just kind of rip apart your list now..... Wow, big claim there buddy. Non-believers don't need to be spiteful. I happen to love religions than cannot be misconstrued for evil. Buddhism is a...

    Slavery

We did not in fact fight a war over slavery, if you had any knowledge on history you'd understand the civil war. The south wanted to keep slaves, the north did not, the states elected Lincoln, and with the fear that slavery would be abolished, the South seceded. The south did not take to the...

Non-Christians: Did you ever go to church?

    1) Have you ever been to church? Yes, weekly mass when I was younger, from around my birth to 10-12 years old 2) Which church did you attend? Too long ago to remember, I remember the minister/pastor or whatever this variety was called had a wife and kids, so that might be a hint to the...
