  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    I just want to love...

Thank you both so much for your responses :) So uplifting! Truly, thank you. Thank you again. :) I have tried out this posting style. My success depends on my own self control (this can be dodgy sometimes... I am working on it!), but also on the level of misunderstanding expressed in any...

Can we enter Heaven without Jesus?

Thanks for this :) I agree. Satan gets waaay too much press. So not worth the airtime. I also agree that it is possible to preach Jesus and not mention hell... this is what I was getting at too so we are on the same page here :) I guess the only point on which we differ is that...

Can we enter Heaven without Jesus?

So here's the thing... We are not meant to judge. Deciding where someone is going after death is the epitome of judgement. I believe that without Jesus, there is no salvation, however, I also believe that God is judge, and not me. He has all the information with which to judge... We...

    I just want to love...

Thank you so much :) Yes, that made perfect sense to me. I agree completely. I didn't know about the left brain/right brain flow... So thank you for sharing that! How fascinating! I also think Internet forums can be dehumanising and lead people to forget that we are all people... Not...

    I just want to love...

More than that. I feel like I need to love. Like God has filled me to the point of overflow. I have to share it, by necessity. It is glorious. Like nothing I could ever have imagined. But there is a flip side... that is... The heartbreak. I feel like my heart is broken a hundred times a...

    Second greatest commandment

Just for clarification... Are people saying that as the law was fulfilled by the crucifixion of Christ, we should ignore all of His teachings as all fall under the law? This doesn't make sense to me. God Himself came to earth and before He was tortured and died selflessly for us, taught us...

Can we enter Heaven without Jesus?

I know :) discussion is cool. I have some practical objections as well as theological objections to preaching hell fire... In my experience, preaching hell and damnation for those that are unsaved can be like throwing seeds to the wind. Firstly, there is the ego to get over... People see the...

    I don't love everyone

Thing about loving demons is... ...it is possibly the only weapon against them. They understand hate. They understand fear. The do not understand love. That is not to suggest that I successfully love demons... I don't. Simply that it isn't such a ludicrous idea. I actually think...

Can we enter Heaven without Jesus?

As a fallible human being, I couldn't possibly say what will happen to people after they die if they lived the way of peace and love, but did not accept Jesus as Lord. I see my job as a Christian to spread God's love through Christ to all people, regardless of what they believe. I do not...

    Second greatest commandment

When ever anyone asks me to sum up Christian practice, this is what I say ("Love The Lord your God with all your heart and soul and love your neighbour as yourself"), so this topic is very close to my heart. I feel like I have had an amazing transformation that makes giving love easy... as if...

    Here it comes.... Islam

I've just had a look at the site and I think you might be right! Thank you so much for drawing my attention to this! I am so happy to be wrong!

    I don't love everyone

Love it! Kids are so cute! My five year old tends to take the lippy, know-it-all approach... The other day I was trying to explain that he should respect me because I made him... To which he responded "no, mummy. God made me". I couldn't even argue with him.

    Here it comes.... Islam

This is a good point. There still IS sexism within Christianity, sadly. I know some very misogynistic Christians. However, I would argue that firstly, Christianity and Islam are the same "age" historically, and so have had the same amount of time to mature and secondly, that misogyny seems to be...

    Taking communion alone

I don't think there is anything *wrong* with taking communion alone... But for me... Part of the intense spiritual beauty is precisely that it is done together... We come together as one in Christ. I would also argue that linguistically, it doesn't make an awful lot of sense to take communion...

    Here it comes.... Islam

Ok, so I try really hard not to put other people down for their beliefs, or tell them they are wrong. I don't think this is useful and I worry it will crush seeds, rather than plant them. It also strikes me as unbiblical (thinking specifically of 1 Peter 3:15 "Always be prepared to give an...
