When does a human life begin?

Jeremiah 1:5 says that God knew Jeremiah before the prophet was even formed in his mother's womb--so life had definitely begun by conception. Genesis 2:7 says life began when God breathed life into Adam--he "became a living soul." This does not mean life began when Adam took his first breath...

    Life as an Anabaptist

I think one of the biggest differences between Anabaptists and Protestants is stance toward the world. We tend to "be not conformed" to society--not just in terms of our beliefs but in many cases our appearance.

    Cesarean Sections

Thanks you for your kind thoughts. :) I'm sorry if I gave the impression that a c-section is never justified. I realize there are severe conditions like placenta previa where a c-section is the only way to save the baby. I just think a 30% c-section rate in my home state is higher than necessary.

When does a human life begin?

Another Scripture supporting the idea that life begins at conception is Jeremiah 1:5: Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee... Why would you think Genesis 2 is not literal?

    In the news today

It is refreshing to hear a testimony like this from a scientist. Being a scientist myself, many times I am surrounded by colleagues whose beliefs are lackluster regarding God--if not totally atheistic. However, when I look at majesty of creation, I just cannot understand how anyone can doubt the...

There was a time when we had

I've been hearing about some "left hand of fellowship" related to the Baptist forum. I'm new here. Can somebody fill me in on what that was all about? Thanks.

    In the news

 This is just another example of why my wife and I are going to be homeschooling our children. Public schools are just so hostile towards Christianity, while they teach as proven fact theories such random evolution--no acknowledgment of Creationism. Would the school have cared if a kid with...

    Cesarean Sections

My sister-in-law had a c-section about a year ago. As she was approaching her due date, her baby flipped around to breech. Because of this, her OB decided a c-section was necessary, against my sister-in-law's better judgment, despite the fact that she was (1) not in labor, (2) not past her due...

Chastity for all homosexuals is wrong

:doh:In that case, I apologize. I've been seriously accused of twisting Scripture on other boards (e.g., the Catholic thread in Apolgetics), so it's rather a sensitive issue for me, considering the grave nature of the charge.

Chastity for all homosexuals is wrong

What words of Scripture am I twisting? Seriously, I would not want to do that. However, Leviticus 11 specifically says touching the "carcase" of a dog or cat is unclean, not touching the live animal. Please, if there is a Scripture that says otherwise, let me know what it is.

Chastity for all homosexuals is wrong

Leviticus 11:26-28: The carcases of every beast which divideth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean. And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto...

Chastity for all homosexuals is wrong

I follow the dietary laws in Leviticus. I do not eat pork. I do not eat shrimp, lobster, or any shellfish. I do not pick and choose what commands in Leviticus to follow. I am unclear where it says one cannot have a pet dog or cat. I thought they were just unclean to eat.

Chastity for all homosexuals is wrong

I have read the Bible as well. Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, and Romans 1:26-27 discuss God's view on homosexuality. The Lord refers to it as an "abomination."

Chastity for all homosexuals is wrong

I got the impression from your original post that you no longer thought all of the Bible was the inspired Word of God. So, I thought you had come to a conclusion about what Scriptures were not inspired by God. Sorry if I was mistaken. :)
