  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Discovering God's will for me????

this is one of my favorite quotes from pastor/author Frederick Buechner "The kind of work God usually calls you to is the kind of work (a) that you need most to do and (b) that the world most needs to have done....The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the...

Is God morally good or absolutely good?

if adam was perfectly good he wouldn't have fallen. Christians tend to discuss the story of adam and eve as a way to examine damnation and sin. For me the truth in the story lies in the failure of men, and the forgiveness of God. I haven't heard much discussion on this but i believe that it...

    So this is bugging me.

a jewish friend of mine says that if he were to write the word God down on paper he isexpected to dispose of it in the most respectful manner possible. I forget if the ceremony involves a burrial, or a burning of the paper but he told me since electronic information can't be disposed of...

Thoughts about Christianity and capital punishment?

i really think you are bending that story to fit your own needs. People who approach it this way seem to me to be overly bloodthirsty. you're right this story does indirectly expose a hypocracy, but that is not what jesus is trying to put emphasis on. It goes straight to the lesson of judge...

Thoughts about Christianity and capital punishment?

i think christ shows us, as sinners, we don't have a right to put others to death for their crimes. The obvious example is the woman who comitted adultery and christ said 'he without sin throw the first stone' some think that we should follow the laws of abraham and moses, but it seems fairly...

    A few questions

there are inconsistancies some christians deny this, i don't. for example: the story of the gentile woman who told jesus "even the dogs eat the crumbs from under the table" is told in two of the gospels, and identified as being from a different country in each. in luke, and acts1 it is...

    Question about Creationism

you are the only person who can tell you what it means to be a christian. pray on it, search your heart, and consider the bible. truth is truth. it will reveal itself to you in time, and you should never be afraid of it, or the quest to find it.

    First prayer

When i was young and lost in the awkwardness of youth,, lonliness grew like a lilly in the field. There came a day when a friend arrived to make lonliness pain the heart less. The two saw each other from the corners of my mind, they walked towards each other and met eyes nervously. Lonliness...
