  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Pentecostal denomination without female pastors?

There is only one Pentecostal denomintaion that I can think of that doesn't allow woman pastors. but I will refrain from mentioning it's name for it is riddled with problems and I would not recommend going there. You may want to look for an independant charismatic instead.(or independant...

    It can work

Thank you for the reminder. I dreamt of it since reading the scriptures in my early teens. When at the age to simply believe what is written and not through colored glasses. We have tasted this, and other things usually associated with simple, organic or NT church. With many people...

Rob, Pay or not to pay not be a huge question, but that is what the thread was started about, so that is what we hvae been discussing. It's doubtful in the NT that the pastor/shepherd/elder made sure everything was done in a decent order, but the pastors/shepherds/elders did. All leaders...

I thought a few of you who appreciate the scriptual model of mutual ministry meetings might get a kick out of the fact that ... One of the antonyms of sermon; is conversation

originally posted by Razz [I] Did you know you can be a teaching elder and never deliver a sermon? I have nothing against study and prayer, and nothing against living either. I'm aquainted with those who are well studied and speak truth well in love, and aquainted with those who are...

Help me out I checked a concordance under: hour, study, pray, minute, teach and preach. I can't find any reference for anyone studying and praying hour ratio to teaching minutes. Some of the best teaching is from a lifetime of walking with the Lord. Again another example of the paid job...

Also, the larger a church becomes the more people there are to do the work of ministry. Unless of course we maintain the traditional model of pastors doing the ministry and the people basically just recieveing, instead of the bibilical model that all memebers are in the ministry. The larger a...

As Razz said .. tradition tells us to :) 2 things come with salary: a job description and performance review. Although there are descriptions of elders, most of it is charcater in origin. There may be things prescribed for them to do, but there is also a huge amount of freedom. Teaching may...

I was reading Clements letter to the Corinthians a few days ago. He was probably there with Paul around 57 AD. He wrote his letter perhaps several years or a decade after Paul's 2nd letter to them. Part of what he wrote: Let our whole body, then, be preserved in Christ Jesus; and let every...

Well and simply put marksman. Amazing too, how those who don't lead in a church for the money will look for a new "pastoring" job elsewhere if the funds dry up for them at one place. And how many are called to the "fulltime" ministry. Which really means a paid ministry. All of us are...

    Paid preachers

To shake the dust from one's feet and leave was the response the disciples were to give if they and the message of the Gospel were not recieved. It was a demonstration that there was no fellowship. It was that light and darkness had no common ground. You are the one that said you would...

I can't find where pay and pastors are linked together. I can find where elders and pay are. :) and where sent ones (apostles) are linked with pay. :) smiles done now.... Sometimes it is wrong to accept pay for the sharing, giving and instructing in the Gospel. Paul said so...
