  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The "good news" (gospel), God's will, and commands...?

I have a question: is there anything written in the Gospels, which is NOT the Gospel? Is the Gospel limited to "Jesus died for our sins". If that's the case, then why do we have 4 books loaded with teachings from Christ? Jesus told us that his teachings will judge us in the last day (John 12)...

The "good news" (gospel), God's will, and commands...?

I'm not sure how that's right Fozzy and Steeno, when Jesus himself said at the end of his sermon on the mount: "anyone who hears these words of mine and does them not, the same shall be likened unto a foolish man who built his house upon the sand. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and...

What does the Bible say about getting married?

My feeling from reading the Gospels is that Jesus seemed to think that being single was actually preferable to getting married, but that marriage isn't restricted. I think it makes sense that, if we can handle being celibate, we should do so, because it means we can be a lot more flexible for God.

    "Difficult"

My feeling is that we really are given "amazing grace" through Jesus' death on the cross, so I don't think we should ever feel condemned about not being perfect. However, I believe that grace only covers us if we TRY to follow Jesus' teachings sincerely. A lot of people don't bother to follow...

    "Christian" Forums

I don't disagree with this statement, but sometimes I get the impression that people actually ENJOY putting others down on this forum. Perhaps that's also just part of human nature though. Still, I think it's something for us to try and overcome.

Help me show a lost sheep the truth

Again, it's not a black and white thing for me. I think the US army also helps in events of natural disasters (cleaning up and giving medical assistance to people). However, I think it is a sin to kill others in general, especially if it's over territory, politics or money, so for the most part...

Help me show a lost sheep the truth

The verse I'm surprised your friend did NOT mention is Matthew 5:44, where Jesus tells us the old way of "eye for eye, tooth for tooth" is not the way anymore, and that we should love our enemies. Circumstances may change and dictate whether or not there is a need for violence as a form of...

God telling me "Let Go" I respond "I can't"

I'm not too sure what exactly God is asking you to let go of, but perhaps that doesn't matter too much. The fact is that God asks to let go of lots of things (money, family, pride, traditions...), and the task is almost never easy. If you consider your situation the same as jumping out of an...

    "Christian" Forums

I was distributing some tracts today and a Muslim man took one. He said he was Muslim, but he would take it and read it anyway to see what it is saying. In fact it's not the first time this happened, but I think there is a good lesson here that I've forgotten about when participating on this...

    "Christian" Forums

I think that's a very good observation. In fact, I think this point could be a large part of the explanation for why people tend to attack each other on this forum. None of us like to be judged or criticized (which is something that happens on lot on this forum). It's because a lot of us have...

    "Christian" Forums

Except that we all do this to a certain extent. It's true that maybe some of us have views which are bit more different to the established doctrine of this forum (such as Tremble's and my beliefs about money), but I've seen loads of people arguing things in favour of their own interpretations of...

    "Christian" Forums

I'm often quite saddened by how UN-Christian people can act towards each other on this forum. The forum is supposed to be a place for open discussion, where people can share their own opinions and thoughts about different topics. It's fair enough for people to provide counter-arguments and to...

Gun control from a Christian perspective

In a situation where I personally was being threatend, I wouldn't want to use violence to protect myself, because Jesus said not to do that. However if it were a situation where I had the ability to save another life through violence, I think I probably would, although I would try to do so in a...

    Financial freedom...?

What constitutes a brief period of time? I've been living this way for 4 years, when do you expect God to stop taking care of me so that I can go work for money?

    Financial freedom...?

Who gives us life, is it God or money? From the way people keep talking about "earning a living", I would say they believe it's the latter.
