  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can you be Christian and believe in evolution?

What is faith? Hebrews 11: "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible."...

How would a nuclear war between Russia and the US affect you?

Hey guys. I am an ethnic Russian born and raised in what is now Ukraine. A lot of you speak without knowledge. Not gonna happen. Nobody is suicidal.

Can you be Christian and believe in evolution?

No. Satan and their own wickedness deceived them. God allowed it to happen, and yes, for a good reason. Because He is just. God is also merciful, so He also provided a way for them not to be deceived, which is to believe the truth. But they chose to believe Satan over God because they loved...

Can you be Christian and believe in evolution?

Just as long as our observation and understanding of the natural world doesn't cloud our understanding of spiritual matters. E.g. Nicodemus and being born again. John 3:3-10 3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” 4 “How can...

Can you be Christian and believe in evolution?

I guess I see it more like a spiral with a start and end? Creation had a beginning, it will have an end, and in between it goes around in circles.

Can you be Christian and believe in evolution?

You are taking it out of context and making God to be a deceiver. That is not what the passage actually says. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12 "Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to...

Can you be Christian and believe in evolution?

No, I did not say that it is an unsubstantiated leap of faith. I said the opposite in fact. I said that we see evidence, then we make a theory, then we confirm the theory (more or less) by more evidence, then we apply the theory to ourselves. It is definitely substantiated. But it violates the...

Can you be Christian and believe in evolution?

Sure, God can take however long He wants to do things. He is patient, and personally, I really appreciate that.

I don't think you've read my earlier posts. You can see this one and this one.

Can you be Christian and believe in evolution?

No, that's redemption. So first people were created in God's image, which includes, among other things, moral capacity (ability to know good and evil), coupled with being righteous. Then Adam sinned - righteousness lost. Then Christ died. Then we believe in Him and become born again, new...

Can you be Christian and believe in evolution?

Exactly. Moral implications do not come from what God did. Everything God does is obviously good and proper. But our understanding of evolution and our applying it to creation of humans results in negative moral implications, which is why I am venturing to say that God probably did not use...

Can you be Christian and believe in evolution?

Well yes, that is of course implied. The context here is creation. God is God, He can create however He decides to create, according of course to His character.

Can you be Christian and believe in evolution?

Right. God is God. He can do whatever He wants. Sure... until you think carefully about human souls and human bodies and moral implications of asserting that human bodies evolved naturally until one day a hominid named Adam was given a soul and became the first person. This has already been...

Can you be Christian and believe in evolution?

Well, show me evidence to the contrary. Show me an evolutionist that says "we know evolution exists, but it might actually not apply to people". Such people do exist, I am one of them, but I wouldn’t categorize myself as an evolutionist. I never said scripture is to be taken literally in all...
