  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Augustine of Hippo on private property

True. The logical storehouse for needed goods should be one's home, as much as is reasonable, not a warehouse or supermarket miles away.

WHY THE LORD'S DAY IS NOT SATURDAY

True that the Sabbath was made for the benefit of all mankind, but only the nation of Israel was commanded to keep it.

If I find a fast pump I try to remember it for next time, although others have the same thought as that pump is almost always being used when I want to fill up.

Update for post #37. Junked out my Grand Marquis at 420,000 miles, spring of 2022. Bought another Grand Marquis, 2003 LS, with 110,000 miles. Paid $7000 for it (it is 'cherry'). Likely the last car I'll ever buy. Still cutting my own hair and getting really good at it. I'm now getting the hair...

Isaiah 40:31 - but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. I recall running with my dog shortly after I had completed a 3 day compete fast, which was the last of a series...

    Spiritual vs Physical

The seventh day is 'holy time' set aside for our benefit. As the seventh day is the official day of rest you will likely get better rest on that day than any other.

    Spiritual vs Physical

Yes, physical rest is vital in keeping the Sabbath. And, we are able to actually do it as there is no need for the tiring rituals that were once attached to it, including the additional labor of the 'preparation' day. It is doubtful if those who kept the OC Sabbath actually got much real rest...

    Spiritual vs Physical

The term rest is a shortened version of the term arrest. Abstain is a better term nowadays. We usually get enough rest from daily activities through nightly sleep. Many of the proscriptions attached to the Sabbath were ritual in nature. The new covenant replaces the ritual with the actual. In...
