  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

From Christian to Chaos Magick. Need help finding rest in a toxic spiritual cycle.

How does one change their own heart? If my mind has already agreed with the doctrine, and I prey every night to be changed, then why is it I'm not changed? I'd like to add, you're language is cruel, when all I'm asking for is help.

@Goodbook It really depends on what yo mean by believe. Sure, I believe that what is in the text of the NT. But do I believe it with all my heart, soul, mind and strength? I'm not sure I can say that. I can say yes, but that doesn't change every aspect of faith.

I don't know. My reason for leaving the megachurch was definitely because it was focusing on a man rather than on Christ. However, perhaps the fact I fell away just proves that it wasn't about that. Who knows. All I know is that I lack a real connection to Jesus, even when I pray to him...

    College questions.

Just to clarify, IT is a HORRIBLE career to get into these days. I think the term you are looking for is computer science.

    College questions.

What are some good tips about college? If you don't know what you want to do, go to a community college and take lots of different classes. When looking at picking a major, don't think about it in terms of what you LIKE to do, but where the job market is growing and your interests intersect...

    Is the husband suppose to?

He should defend her in a firm and calm manner if the abuse happens in front of them. The husband should then talk to his wife about his own personal boundaries in the situation. Then, confront the abusers with said boundaries. Ex: "I'm very uncomfortable being around your family when they...

I'm reluctant to post a huge life-story, due to some issues with me using testimony to gain praise and attention, rather than to help others. After hitting a spiritual wall, I guess I’d like to ask for help from people who found themselves in a similar cycle. As an aside: I’ve been in therapy...

    Am i real?

I'm going to go out on a limb here, so feel free to tell me I'm wrong. I think that maybe what you are feeling in a very intense way, is a personal realization of the fall. The fall from grace can happen in our lives on a smaller level. In a way, our loss of innocence growing up is a reminder...

    Was Jesus a Vegetarian?

He probably did eat meat as part of a traditional Jewish diet. However, it was probably nothing like the diet we understand today. It was probably mostly vegetarian, with wine, bread and oil being the centerpieces. Fish and meat were probably eaten sparingly, as well as dates, figs, olives, etc.

    Prayers of non-Christians?

IMHO many people say "you'll be in my prayers" because English is quite awkward in these situations. I was talking about this earlier with my boss. Often, when someone tells us something serious, all we can say is, "Sending positive vibes." "Hope you don't die." "Um...wow, that sucks." I feel...

    Jesus drank alcohol?

Jesus definitely drank wine and it was alcoholic. If you drank a lot of it, you could get drunk. The scriptures make that clear. However, we need to look at the historical context of wine during the period. From my general knowledge, wine during the time of the Romans was often mixed with...

My Season of Loneliness and Isolation

Your post has inspired me to start looking into a church community. God has been poking and prodding me to serve people and I've been ignoring that call. Thanks so much!

Have you ever encountered a fellow christian who mistreats you?

I was a member of Mark Driscoll's church, haha. So I saw first-hand how aggressive and toxic behavior within a church can poison the well and trickle down to the everyday member. Practically, I firmly believe that every day we make baby steps toward Christ or darkness. After a while, those...

Is it okay to post negative things about islam on social media?

I think there's a very thin line between being a huge jerk and standing up for what's right and good. Being thoughtful, tactful and tasteful in your criticism will help your stance against the culture of Islam. Hounding people on social media and posting click bait anti-Muslim garbage will...

    Just a question....

In my personal opinion, sarcasm is often an excuse for being mean. At least, people who openly claim "sarcasm" as a personality trait. I know plenty who are nice and also throw the sarcastic joke around, but it depends on the situation. From what you have said, it seems like this person was...
