  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Is Tony Blair to blame for the civil war in Iraq?

Not exclusively, but he's certainly a contributing factor. I find it nauseating that he's attempting to deflect his role in this horrid mess.

    Islam on the march?

Given that your story wasn't a parody, my point clearly has some merit. The fact that you feel a sense of alienation speaks more about your own insecurities and prejudice than it does theirs.

    Islam on the march?

Given that I try to live a life that treats all people regardless of sexuality, race, gender and culture as equal, then yes, I am happy to be a face of atheism. Can you say that all religions, including yours, can say that they treat all people as equal? No, of course you can't; hence the reason...

    Islam on the march?

I will accept the point that M&M isn't about promoting Christianity, given the fact I just went and checked on his/her page to see what faith icon is on their page. So I will recant that specific part of my post and offer my apologies to M&M. I have read a substantial number of AES posts...

    Islam on the march?

Maybe it was, I haven't read enough of the poster's comments to make an informed decision. If it was, then accept my apologies. If it wasn't, then my point still stands. That depends entirely upon what face you are looking at.

    Islam on the march?

*their message If they're British then they have exactly the same "freedoms" that you enjoy. So when you rather predictably state "our freedoms" who exactly are you referring to? You and your ilk? And what are these freedoms AES?

    Islam on the march?

Good grief! And this is the face of Christianity that you want to promote? Unbelievable. I will let you into a little secret. There are many Muslims who are both British (and yes, AES you can use the dog being born in a stable analogy if it makes you feel better about yourself) and Muslim...

Is the minster in your church an atheist?

Exactly. It seems like an almost simplistic point to make, but it's true. You're asking a lot of someone to place their trust in something that one cannot quantify. You can't measure faith or subject it to any form of rigorous analysis. So believers can use their faith to practice all manner of...

Is the minster in your church an atheist?

I clearly stated that I am not persuaded that such a place exists. Can I prove it does not exist? Absolutely not; can you prove it does exist? Absolutely not. The preponderance of evidence does tilt somewhat towards my belief. Without wishing to use hackneyed cliches about "you believe it, so...

Is the minster in your church an atheist?

According to your interpretation of your beliefs an eternal torment awaits those like me. Okay. However, speaking purely for myself, having had both feet firmly planted within the faith, I am very much, very, very, very much persuaded that such a place does not exist. So I sleep very, very, very...

Is the minster in your church an atheist?

Apparently there are many pastors throughout the US that are still standing in front of their congregations week in, week out preaching god's word who have lost/abandoned their faith. I have listened to some interesting testimonies from ex-Christians who were pastors, and they recalled how...

    B&b

Or any religion for that matter. Some believers can't help themselves. They have chosen a specific path for their own life, but insist on making rules that they want to see enforced across the board. And if you happen to believe in the god of the Bible, Torah or Koran then your voice is louder...

Has Christian Church attendence dropped in the UK over the last 40 years ?

By all means don't answer, but I'm genuinely interested in what specifically it was about your Christian upbringing that you valued? I ask as one who was raised as a Catholic. Thanks.

    We're

Didn't say they were, and no, I don't believe you. You'd be surprised how many people do pee on the sidewalk; especially on a weekend night after the pubs and clubs have closed :P The onus is not on me, but you actually believe in something that is neither proven or even remotely verifiable...
