    Any famous people in your genealogy?

    My g-g-g grandfather and his brother served on the staff of Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans in 1815. A cousin married a nephew of Andrew Jackson in the White House when Jackson was president.

    Chant 2 is fine. But my all time favorite was recorded by Philips entitled Salve Regina which was remasterd for CD in 1987 but was recorded in 59 by the Benedictine monks of Clervaux.     Favorite time period?

    Where is Early Music and Renaissance on this poll? I have far more CDs from these periods. I started out listening to Romantic period composers and worked my way backwards. This poll leaves out the Gabrielli brothers, Palestrina, and Monteverdi.

    Gregorian Chant

    Go to Amazon.com. There are at least two CDs entitled Chant by a group of Benedictine monks at a Spanish monastery (Silos, I believe). There are recordings from the Benedicting monastery at Solemsnes, France which are considered to be authoratative. I prefer Chant.
