  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I stopped reading when it called hypocrisy, "morally bad." Morals are subjective. I want a logical reason for hypocrisy being a negative trait.

Anecdotal evidence. Every pride parade I have seen has been a respectful event with no stereotypes being enforced. BTW, nolongerhome, I am still waiting for your rebuttal.

Saudi court upholds child rapist crucifixion ruling

An eye for an eye, among equals, makes the whole world blind. This punishment is archaic. Letting the child molester rot in an oppresive institution is much more fitting a punishment.

You have yet to tell me why abstaining from hypocrisy is a good trait. Please establish a reason for this. <staff edit>

I said I was tempted to make it, I never violated Godwin's Law (that would be a logical fallacy :P). <staff edit>

He doesn't consider some of my best friends people. <staff edit> Also, I am very tempted to invoke Godwin's Law, just because that analogy would fit perfectly.

    Death Note

I liked it alot, until about halfway through the books (I've only read the manga). After a particular event though, the whole series seemed to drag and become formulaic.
