  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    LDS Blessings

Acts 28:8 has Paul laying his hands to heal the sick, which is a blessing on the sick. James 5: 14-16 also address the issue. Mark 6:13 also states that they went and anointed with oil those that were sick-which is a form of a blessing. As a secondary nature, Christ laid His hands on people...

    LDS Blessings

While no direct order is given, it seems to be a common practice to give blessings by the laying on of hands. If they were doing it, reason would stand that they were told to, either by Christ, or Jewish practice.

    LDS Blessings

The verses give references to where they perfomed acts, with the laying on of hands. Mark 10:16 actually shows where Christ placed His hands on someone and blessed them. The Apostles were commanded to follow His example. 1Tim 4:14 also shows, explicitly, that gifts are given by the laying on...

    LDS Blessings

I think I addressed a mother's blessing. It isn't an ordinance, not using the Priesthood, but it is considered a powerful prayer. I'm not sure if there's more to it, but that's what I gather it is-a prayer of a mother, on behalf of their child. Yes, it is doctrine in the Church.

    Warren Jeffs vs Joseph Smith

I wouldn't generalize if I were you. Many of those reviews I read were from LDS members, and many of those said it was a well-done book.

    Warren Jeffs vs Joseph Smith

I just looked, and it said "new and used from $26.97". I unfortunately cannot afford that right now, so I'm going to see if my local library has a copy, or if they can send for a copy.

    Warren Jeffs vs Joseph Smith

According to the reviews of the book, it's worth the read. It seems to be split down the center, those that think it's valid research, and those that don't. However, the majority seem to think that Compton's opinions may not be valid, regardless if his research is. In other words, the accounts...

    Warren Jeffs vs Joseph Smith

I didn't say that it didn't. However, this is one book. There are more accounts, in serval different sources, that say contrary to what is claimed is said by these women.

Does the Bible have an Esoteric sense?

Great answer! I think you gave, almost verbatim, the lesson on faith and works I had a while ago. However, I might also add that the whole concept is cyclical. Faith produces works, but works also increase faith (have anyone ever served someone selflessly, and not felt an increase in their...

what was the religion of Abraham?

Well, he is considered the father of three faiths-Islam, Judism, and Christianity. Since none of the religions existed at that time, he cannot have officially belonged to any of them. However, if one look at it from a Christian perspective, all the prophets, from Adam onward, were worshiping...

what was the religion of Abraham?

He was both Jewish and Christian. For he followed the Messiah. However, since Christ had not come, no division between the two religions existed. He lived waiting for the coming of the Messiah.
