  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thanks again for the info on running. Seems the more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know. I will take short strides going uphill from now on. Maybe I should get a good book on running. I have talked about some of my running experiences but have not heard much about anyone else's...

Thank you Maka. Also, I like what your quote about "being in love with the sky". Me too.

Thanks for the information. I will try to apply it. I don't think that I over-stride. However, lately during 5Ks I have been taking longer strides going up and down hills and it improves my overall time. I lean forward going up hills and actually run faster than usual. It seems to work. However...

My time was 27 minutes and 12 seconds. My best time ever. Last year in the same race I think my time was about 32 minutes.

I did a 5K over the weekend and enjoyed it. The people there were nice and it was organized well. People there were cheering me on every few blocks. Also, it was the fastest I ever ran in a 5K and that felt good. I have been running for over a year now and am improving little by little. This...

    Running

Thanks for sending me a message. I ran a 5K over the weekend and did pretty well. I am not fast but I do the best I can. I feel good about it for being able to finish and do the best I can. I don't worry about competing with the other runners. I also have a goal of seeing how far I can run. I...

    question

So do I. I believe that Jesus, our creator, is the way, the truth and the light of world and without Him we are in darkness. I believe if people would obey His Word the world would be a much better place. Can you imagine a world in which everyone loves one another and loves God and only does...

I am sorry you had to give up running. It is a loss when you have to give up something that was meaningful to you. I bet you do miss it. If you are like me you probably think about trying it again at times in hope that things would work out better next time. May God bless you and guide you and...

Thanks for the info on interval running. I think it is great that you ran with your kids. There was several kids in the race yesterday and it was nice to see them participating. It just seemed like everyone was having a good time at the race. They were very friendly. We were raising money for a...

I read where running shoes just last about 500 miles. Would good supportive insoles extend the life of the shoes so you would not have to replace them so often? Replacing insoles would be cheaper than replacing shoes. My daughter ran her first 5K with me today. We ran at a slow pace because she...

I think I am on the right track this time. Since about age 40 I tried to get into long distance running about 3 times and each time I had to quit because my knee started hurting. It was the first time in my life I ever had knee problems. This time I have been working out about 6 months or so...

Do you think I am overdoing it? To answer your questions: I am 6 feet tall and lanky and have always "bounced when I walk or run". When I was a kid the other kids made fun of the way I walked. I try to no longer bounce on the balls of my feet but don't have a natural effecient running styles. I...

It sounds like you know what you are doing. I think you will reach your goal. Maybe you could measure about a 3.1 mile distance and time yourself on it occasionally to see where you are at on your time. It takes persistance to make slow steady progress. I am working hard to improve my time. I...
