  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Assurance of Justification

Not sin "presumptuously" nor "willfully" (Num 15:24-30; Heb 10:26). Remember, it's "not I who do it, but the sin that dwellth in me" (Ro 7:17, 20). We still sin but it's never considered us in our new man, which is who we are; we are not our old man, though it is still in us, "we are not in" it...

    Assurance of Justification

Hi, and thanks for the reply and instructional comments! "You are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God" (1Co 6:11). We are justified because we are sanctified! Sanctification precedes justification, just as being made...

    Assurance of Justification

One who is born again cannot "draw back" (Heb 10:38, 39), for now the Christian's desire will ever be to "please" Him (Phl 2:13). This is why salvation is permanent!

    Assurance of Justification

Hi, and very insightful! It reminds me of the truth that Christians are already everything Christ is, and their walk proves it out as we are "conformed" to His image.

    Assurance of Justification

It's all part of His plan and purpose, using evil to manifest good!

    Assurance of Justification

Eve showed they were sinful before the sin ("a tree to be desired to make one wise" - 3:6). God knew they would sin when He commanded them not to partake. Without salvation, we would not be in Them and they in us! We would just be with them, but God wants to be in us.

    Assurance of Justification

You know, we overcome only by Christ. Even just possessing the sin nature is evil, but through Christ we continually are "accepted in the beloved." It's His righteousness imputed to us that we are clear of offense, otherwise nothing would do for us what needs to be done.

I don't see how we can continue our discussion. God's blessings to your Family!

    Assurance of Justification

If you're meaning you don't sin, we will not be able to debate kindly.

    Assurance of Justification

If you are referring to the saint willfully sinning because of the old man, it is not us in our new man for we are not in it (Ro 8:9). The sins of the saint are always against against his will, which answers to Paul's illustration about being a "captive" (Ro 7:23). It's always against his will...

    Assurance of Justification

Righteousness first begins with the sinner admitting (confessing) he is a sinner and wants out. Then after receiving Christ he is separated from it (Ro 8:9). Though the sin nature ("old man") is in us (Ro 7:17, 20), we are not in it. Thus, when we sin it is not "presumptuous" (Num 15:30) nor...

    Assurance of Justification

We are "dead to sin" (Rom 6:2), and have no more part with the old man (Rom 8:9). This does not mean that the old man is dead to us, for it yet strives against us and the Spirit (Gal 5:17), but to no avail. For it cannot cause us in our new man to desire again after it (Rom 6:14). This death...

    Assurance of Justification

The "old man" is our sin nature and "is crucified with Him" (Rom 6:6). We left the Cross, but it is still restrained. It's like a crew which had to declare mutiny, because the captain did something very heinous, so they chained him to the main sail post. As they continued on their way they...

    Assurance of Justification

Everything we have is founded on “position and “condition.” Our position in the Lord Jesus is who we are; our condition on the earth is what we are. Assurance of justification is established on our position in the Lord Jesus Christ, and is an imputation not an impartation. Our condition is that...

    Suffering’s Solace

It is lawful for the Father to do what He will with His own. Have we served Him only from selfish interest? Are we going to cling to Him only in the time of prosperity? Shall we not accept from His hand sorrow and suffering as well as joy? It is, alas, true that many of the children of God, in...
