  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Discussion with an Atheist - Explaining Faith with Reason

ahhhhh, philosophy is a riot. one claims to be an adult while another points fingers at the child. neither you or i are right because there is no right, no wrong, no adult, no child. of course even that may not be an absolute. i won't bother to address each issue but hating is often the...

    Id the Ego

yes i did and thank you. [/b] i agree concerning jesus sacrifice as he was a holy man. however i don't know that others wouldn't consider dying for the sake of being remembered as a martyr rather than 'purely' for the sake of serving/standing up for god, what is just, right, holy. which is...

    Id the Ego

could you expound? i'm sure i agree with you though since my thoughts have dramatically changed since i last posted this. this has become more apparent to me since starting down this road of exploring the ego and its nature. thank you for your post.

    Id the Ego

thank you for your response. i have really begun to rethink the whole nature of the ego. where it comes from, its purpose (if it really has any at all) and whether it is necessary for me to live a "productive" life, but then productivity itself can be relative to the observer, no? so long that...

RE: Discussion with an Atheist - Explaining Faith With Reason

Tolerance: The capacity for or the practice of recognizing and respecting the beliefs or practices of others. Since you people are sucking me dry to the bone, I’ll leave you with this. Keep it to yourself if you’re capable. Your only answer seems to be that you don’t have one. Why then take...

Discussion with an Atheist - part 2

no, refresh my memory....er, actually don't. if there is no such thing as personal truth then how come i completely disagree with you? we're just viewing two different sides of the same coin. uhhhhh, wait, you won't get that. read some eastern philosophy then you'll get it.

Discussion with an Atheist - part 2

plain english for those who need it: you intend only to serve you. you do not intend to serve truth. you do not see value in that which you cannot comprehend because you conciously choose not to comprehend it. i have a feeling your brain won't soak that in properly either. regarding your lucid...

Discussion with an Atheist - Explaining Faith with Reason

oh damn, and we were so close. i thought for a minute there human beings were capable of honoring things outside their own comprehension, of actually being truly humble and seeing the value in all conscious perspective if there's virtue to be found in it. i see the value of atheism but you do...

Discussion with an Atheist - Explaining Faith with Reason

i have no conclusion, just faith. i never said it couldn't but then there is no end. in the same way many christians have come to a conclusion that they know the truth many atheists do as well. but, again there is no conclusion, no end. to understand why we are all spiritual beings you must...
