7 Day creation- literal or figurative?

Hi Rider99. Thank you for your post. Your dedication to the Bible is admirable. However, I am suggesting that if you begin to look beyond the Bible, into its heritage, manufacture and history, that you might become even more enlightened. With bessings, Mrs RC

7 Day creation- literal or figurative?

Hi Rider99. Depending on where your knowledge of the history of the Bible is, then you will possibly know that the assembly of the scriptures (written by men, not God) were something of an anthology put together by men, from ancient writings over many decades. There are missing pieces that...

7 Day creation- literal or figurative?

How can you have the double helix as your sign and then spout such unscientific nonsense?

7 Day creation- literal or figurative?

There are few serious theologist who interpret the bible as a literal work of God. God clearly did not create the entire world and everything in it in 7 days. If you are looking to really research and think about this topic for an essay then you should do better research than coming to an...

Teacher: I Don't Like Shakespeare Because He's White

And gosh! I've skimmed through a lot of the other post. Stop taking yourselves so seriously Shakespeare people! It seems that a lot of our American friends seem to need to 'prove themselves'. Stop. Just see or read the plays for the silliness that so much of them are...

Teacher: I Don't Like Shakespeare Because He's White

They are sooooo funny if you see them as plays. There's slapstick humour and witticisms in all of them. If you've only ever read them as books then I would understand. But then I would also worry that you've never seen them performed and judged them out of context.

Teacher: I Don't Like Shakespeare Because He's White

The reason that Shakespeare is still so continually read is because he understands the human. In any number of his plays he shows jealosy, love, unrequited love, passion, regret, death, murder, comedy; I could go on. Whilst dramatic, Shakespeare shows us the everyday humanity of our ways...

Do you agree with this statement?

Really? As a child, a grown up atheist and an intelligent pantheist, I have sung Christmas Carols in hospital wards and hospices. The joy that people feel from beautiful music does not necessarily come from faith. To assume that one love subsumes the other is arrogant and unintelligent...

Do you agree with this statement?

That's not a yes or no question. You are asking two things, one of which is dependent on the first.

Is it against the Bible to have a female best man at a wedding?

Really? This is what you're worried about? Love is love. The world would be a much better place if people didn't pretend to read or interpret 'The Bible'.
