  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

PEANUT GALLERY - Do the RCC's Doctrines deny the sufficiency of Christ's Atonement?

Purgatory is about purification, which is the premise of the debator's argument, against Catholicism and Christ's Passion - if anyone "misses the point," it is he who conflates the sanctification God effects for His children versus the eternal consequences of sin. It is also incorrect to say of...

PEANUT GALLERY - Do the RCC's Doctrines deny the sufficiency of Christ's Atonement?

After reviewing the debate a bit, it seems Dave's big premise is "so why is there an official Teaching indicating that purification from the condemnation of personal sins is had after death if Christs atoning work on Calvary was totally sufficient in taking ALL of our sins away and already...

    Was Mary assumed into Heaven?

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking here regarding "qualitative," but Mary's assumption (or I would surmise, as Orthodox call it, her Dormition) is revealed through her types. For example, Mary as the figure of the Church is seen and identified in the inspired life of the Church because of...

Thanks for the resources, friends. :) I'll have to give a listen - long file!

    Looking for video

I remember a while back someone posting a video of a Metropolitan, I think, speaking about the Catholic idea of a "Pope." In the video, he said something to the effect of "It was not like this in the beginning. It should not be one person. It is supposed to be all of us." Or some paraphrase like...

    Was Mary assumed into Heaven?

Yes, but one must be willing to recognize Biblical types in Scripture, just as Paul did, for example, of Adam and Jesus (cf. Rom. 5:14). Mary can be seen in figures such as the Ark of the Covenant or as figure of the Church. You can read Cardinal Ratzinger (now Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI)...

At the Closure With Mary, the Mother of Jesus

Maybe check out Pope John Paul II's "Mother of the Redeemer" from 1987. Check out paragraphs 16-18 for analysis on the sword piercing her heart. Keyword search it for other pertinent topics the professor would like you to analyze. See the footnotes for other resources on the topic.

Does God make exceptions, if so how does it align with the Scripture?

It computes because such a person is still free to say no, are they not? In fact, it is the ultimate freedom to openly choose God's will over one's own. After all, Christ set us free from the bondage of this world, from sin, the law, etc... To freely choose God's will is the ultimate exercise in...

    Too late for blessing?

I'm sorry to hear of your struggle, but since no one knows the hour of the last time, it is best to pray for God's will in your life, ask for marriage if it be in accord with His merciful will, and in the meanwhile offer Him your suffering as a prayer united with Christ's Passion. Hang in there.

    Is everyone saved?

In this verse, you can see a dual sense in which Jesus is the Savior of all mankind. "Especially of believers" are those who would correspond to the saved in heaven. As the Savior of all others––mankind had a certain futile separation from God after the fall of Adam. Jesus reversed...

Protestant radio shows discussing Pope Benedict?

Actually it was Friel who said the "anti-Christ" statement was by the Reformers. Hammond completed the second half of Friel's sentence. I did not "purposefully omit" that they were citing the Reformers. It's right there in my transcript. So you are wrong. And the harlot of Babylon statement was...

Protestant radio shows discussing Pope Benedict?

That link I gave you in post #10 had several resources in post #2 regarding ancient vernacular Biblical translations in English. Here it is again. And here's a couple samples: [T]he [Anglo-Saxon Bible Fragment of the Late Eighth Century, aka 1 E. VI] is examined, its identification with the...

I appreciate that, my friend, but I make no promises. :)

Protestant radio shows discussing Pope Benedict?

No, this is false. English and other vernacular translations with Church approval predate him. It was what the Church deemed his heretical eisegesis that was, in the Church's eyes, problematic. The idea that he was killed "for translating the Bible into English" is nonsensical. The file I...

Protestant radio shows discussing Pope Benedict?

I'm entirely confident that this podcast was quite bombastic. :) I heard the podcast from this page here. I supposed that conversation can continue over here. I said that because Stonestreet mentioned it as a positive in his discussion of same topic. That must be a different episode. I...
