  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why don't we men don't have a disgust for impure sexual thoughts ?

Galatians 5:16,17. It is a matter of being in the Spirit or being in the flesh. The more a person focuses on being in the Spirit, the more flesh desire leaves. The more a person focuses on the flesh, the less that person is spiritual. So we should focus on walking in the Spirit, or that is...

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ

Welcome. It seems there is a revival going on in India. Calvary Temple in Hyderabad is very active. A woman from Hyderabad contacted me about a month ago for a message from God for an issue she had. She thought a message from God from a Christian is the equivalent of consulting an astrologer. I...

    Archetypes

Indeed, he is a very interesting person. Or was.

    Archetypes

I don't think that even his family thought the distinction was significant, at least not in my discussions with his nephew, who I believe was educated at a Greek Orthodox seminary.

    Archetypes

This is an interesting video, in that it views the concept of archetypes in the context of Eastern Orthodox Christianity, and of course, this church would have to have a unique perspective. I can see why an Orthodox person would be more willing to discuss the concept. By my experience, it is...

    Archetypes

I don't believe in Jung's archetypes. His conception of it, I think, is actually demonic. But I do believe in literary archetypes, which are present everywhere, and even in the Bible. But what is the basis of literary archetypes? I have never seen a discussion on the basis. I am beginning to...

Separation of Church and State – Answering Critics

The Supreme Court made the meaning of the First Amendment "Separation of Church and State" in Everson v. Board of Education, 1947. Before 1947, the meaning of the First Amendment was "In a Free and Fair Debate, the Truth Will Win," (as Jesus Christ is Lord); (This is a definition of...

4 things to know about Usha Chilukuri Vance, wife of Trump's VP pick

It's nice that Trump wants to make America great again. But this choice for VP clearly demonstrates that he doesn't actually know what made America great in the first place. How was America made great again after the Mexican War? That is the only way. But it isn't going to happen again. Still, I...

Can you be truly saved and also abusive

I agree with angelsaroundme that your situation very much does seem like you are dealing with OCPD. But who can know from just reading online messages? If it is not, then you are dealing with something very similar. I think the best expert on OCPD is Mack W. Ethridge, and it just so happens he...

    Music - MP3

I have never used an MP3 player. However, I thought it would be good to put a bunch of church music on one, so that I could carry it around who knows where. But figuring this out is not easy for me, and I prefer not to spend money. So... does anyone know of some good sites where I can...

    Why is Catholicism so successful?

That may be your view of Catholicism, but it is not every Catholic's. Holy Tradition does degrade Scripture -- placing the Pope as the Vicar of Christ sets an authority that goes beyond Scripture in contradiction to Scripture. Then, he can say it is OK to communicate with the dead (pray to...

    Why is Catholicism so successful?

I think another basis for the success of the RCC is its highly secretive manner of operation. For example, the RCC has archives that go back 1,000 years, but they will not permit review of their records. The RCC has enormous wealth, but they will not release complete banking statements, even...

    Why is Catholicism so successful?

I'm not stopping you from looking at the sources I quoted. The military unity and finances of English speaking societies were the decisive difference of WWII. We kept the Russians afloat, and we set up a second front. English speaking countries at the time were predominantly Protestant...

    Why is Catholicism so successful?

A lot of Catholic success is based on having established centuries of institutional authority by sending out armies to slaughter in mass other Christians who disagreed with them. In northern Europe, the armies were not strong enough. They also tried to wipe out Orthodox Catholicism the same way...

    Why is Catholicism so successful?

No, your statement is a distortion of my posting. This thread is attempting to uphold Catholicism as superior to Protestanism on a basis other than Scripture. This is always how Catholics do it. It is true that Catholics venerate Scripture, but they subordinate it to Holy Tradition and degrade...
