  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Ethical Theories

So God determines morality arbitrarily? Err, I think you misunderstand moral relativity. Moral relativity is the ability to choose the best course of action for any given situation; if you fail, that doesn't mean that you're not a moral relativist, it just means you're human. I'm sorry, I...

    Ethical Theories

So would you say that God is where morality originates and that He decides what is right or wrong? But this contradicts what we know to be so. What may seem and feel like a sin to you isn't any such thing for me. From what I understand, yes. Consult the OT for examples. Consult Luke 19 for...

    Why Do Good?

Is this to imply that the nation of Israel, the colonists, and the Spanish were "allowed" to kill? Yep, I hear the "times change" line a lot. It's pretty lame actually. Jesus said he came to fulfill the law, but he broke it many times (he stole [in Luke 19 he orders his disciples to steal], he...

    Why Do Good?

Which they believed was sanctioned by the Bible (well wouldn't you if you could pick out verses that said to kill witches? And to kill the non-believers?). If God exists outside of time, we don't have free will; how can you have free will when all your actions are known both past and future...

    Why Do Good?

I will use my rational capacity to decide if a god exists, and then if he is fit to worship. I guess you could say I do judge God; if people don't make these judgements, things like the Inquisition take place, and the witch trials. Pick up a dictionary. Why does it matter? If I were a habitual...

    Why Do Good?

My book is my own rational capacity. By being bloodthirsty in the OT, and by condemning billions to suffer in hell for eternity; why does that not offend your moral sensibilities?

    Why Do Good?

I said, "not that I'm not guilty." Meaning, I have told a lie. It would be preposterous to burn in hell for it though. I didn't say I didn't do it. When a person says, "You're a thief or this or that," it generally holds that this person is a habitual thief or whatever. I'm not a person anyone...

    Why Do Good?

Maybe you should read what I wrote, you did quote me afterall, so read what you quoted. It's a given that everyone has done this thing, what gets me is that you feel you're vindicated because you "have Jesus." Again, read what I wrote, and I'm not concerned with what God thinks because He, in...

    Why Do Good?

This is sort of arrogant (no offense, but it's true). Non-Christians are just as likely to do good (or bad) as Christians. I am not a liar (not that I'm not guilty, but I would lie if it meant saving a life, or some other good deed), thief, nor am I an adulterer, nor am I a sluggard, and not...

    God gene

So wait, it had little effect on which religious belief they were/chose? Or the mere fact their susceptibility to religious belief?

?..how do you explain the miracles and

There's no evidence that it was inspired, there's no evidence that Jesus was divine, there's no evidence that any of those miracles took place, there's no bonified evidence of the supernatural. This being the case, you're left with nothing but a book which must be taken on faith (and faith, as...

?..how do you explain the miracles and

Science can't deny that there is a colony of Jesuses living on Centauri Prime (which is in another dimension, and as it happens, the Jesuses living there are a bunch of intersexual Ents). Science doesn't deal with anything for which there is no evidence. Plus, what makes you think there is...
