  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The tragedy of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

JPII wrote this. No wonder. Pfft. Had it not been for those bombs, the war would have lasted a lot longer than it did, and America would have lost even more men. Yes, it was a tragedy, but whoever said war was a pretty thing? And lest we forget, it was the Japanese who pretty much brought us...

NEWS: Catholics More Likely to Agree with Pope than Protestants

I think this pope is hopelessly, grievously wrong on this whole atheist thing.

    Traditionalist Catholics Attack Pope Francis

It's not a matter of pride, people. It's a matter of following Tradition, something that Francis has pretty much blown off since he's been pope. You don't see traditionalist Catholics like myself going around and making a big show of paying our own hotel bills and shunning proper papal protocol...

    Traditionalist Catholics Attack Pope Francis

I trust Pope Francis about as much as I can throw him. He's a wolf in sheep's clothing. There's something very wrong when even the secular media is singing a person's praises.

Please pray that the next Pope will do the consecration

Communism is in no way, shape, or form, dead. Russia is still spreading her errors throughout the world. Pope John Paul II consecrated the world to Mary, and that is not what she asked. She specifically requested a consecration to RUSSIA. Until that specific consecration of Russia is performed...

Statement by Leader Pelosi on Pope Benedict XVI

That's exactly what I'm going to do.

    Pope Benedict XVI resigns!

I will never understand sentiments like this. I pray for an ultra-conservative pope daily. The Church needs one.

    The "miracles" of Catholicism

I'm Catholic, and personally, to read a post like this really gets under my skin. Have you read books that were written by actual Roman Catholics, or are you just going by what some ill-informed non-Catholic says?

Rewrite the Bible to allow gay marriage, CNN host Piers Morgan declares

I'm actually very shocked that you all are so totally against Piers Morgan. I would have thought he'd be the first person you watched on TV, along with Rachel Maddow.

    Criticism in the Church

If being a lonely, unrecognized prophet is saintly, then Rahner, Congar, DeChardin and others obviously were. If I'm not mistaken, Congar was one of the theologians whose teachings were roundly condemned by the Church before V2. Unfortunately, the Council changed their mind on him and...

    Converting to Lutheranism?

What I've heard is that converting to a Protestant faith is nothing less than a cardinal sin. I was in your shoes just recently--I'd been going through some serious spiritual warfare and I was so close to going back to the Methodist church. Someone must have been praying for me because today I...

    The Occult in Hollywood

Ah, let the name-calling begin. What was that line that Christ said about seeing a speck in another person's eye but ignoring the plank in your own eye?
