  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Gay Legislation Trumps Religious Freedom in the United Kingdom

I'm actually protestant but I've changed my sign by mistake!

Gay Legislation Trumps Religious Freedom in the United Kingdom

An athiest was recently arrested for putting leaflets in John Lennon Airport in Liverpool. I don't know much more than that I'm afraid. A few of you mentioned the Pope being arrested. Did you know that Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens have said they'll arrest him if he comes here...

Gay Legislation Trumps Religious Freedom in the United Kingdom

There are a few strange happenings against Christians here and I feel so sorry that the man who worked for Relate was sacked but please remember the awful persecution of Christians in places like Pakistan. In some countries converting to Christianity means you are afraid for your life. I've met...

Saying no to salvation one to many times

Robert, I am so sorry you are suffering so much because of this. I have sinned and walked away from God, closed my heart to the Holy spirit and yet God never let me go. As someone else said, do talk to your pastor as it may help. We are all sinners and yet God forgives us. Keep praying and...

so i'm not the only one

You are certainly not the only one. A lot of us are searching for a church that ticks all the right boxes. You need to feel comfortable with the people and the type of worship and that can be the difficulty. I think Heron makes a lot of sense. I think God can guide us to where we need to be...

    Two Weeks Today

sjdean. I'm from an Aston Villa supporting family so I probably should say - don't go! Are others being baptised with you? Is the vicar male? If so he'll probably be understanding. I suppose if the lunch is being held for you alone it could be a bit tricky especially if it's been arranged...

Christian Values, And is it Ok to Skip Church?

SJDean, you sound like a good person with a lot of sense. Some Christians are very judgemental and tell others what to do. You can talk to God anywhere, not just in a church building. This is a good forum as the people here are very accepting. Please don't get tied up in knots over this. I...

    Struggles with Faith and Suicide

I'm so sorry about how you have been treated. Bi-polar/depression is not your fault. I have anxiety problems and Christians told me I wasn't working hard enough for God, they made me feel awful but I have found that God loves me. Please keep going and remember there are many of us who care...

    New Mormon

Hello! Welcome to CF, I hope you enjoy being here. I used to be a Mormon too but left after six years. I know Mormons aren't thought to be Christain but you are accepted on this site. I really love coming on here because the people are so supportive and it doesn't matter what denomination you are.

    please pray for me

Thank you all for your prayers. I am feeling calmer and have been able to go out more. I even went to the cinema on Sunday and enjoyed the experience! I really want to be healed and not have to take tablets any more but at the moment I feel desperate and opted for that route. If I can get...

    Agoraphobia And Church

Yes, there are lots of people out here who know what you are going through. The clergy at my church realise that I cannot make it there very often. I've spoken to one of them about my problems and she has been very supportive. Please try not to feel guilty about the things you struggle to do...

    please pray for me

Thanks so much for your prayers and understanding. Apparently one of the tablets is likely to make me even more anxious in the first week so that should be fun! It should be all right after that. I'll keep you posted. Best wishes and God bless you all.

    Agoraphobia And Church

Hello Webbgurl. Sorry to hear how difficult things are for you and I'll be happy to pray for you. I don't think people can understand the fear of going out - it just seems really alien to them. Why would a person choose not to go out? This is an illness and you can't get out. You would if you...
