    I went to a local SBC and came up to the pastor to chat and he said "What bible are you reading"? I told him "the 2011 NIV" and he said "let me see that" and I handed it to him and he looked up a verse or two and said "I really reccommend you choose something else, like the NASB or NKJV".

    Worship doesn't have to be perfect, though. And I myself have experienced just as many off-tune hymn singers as contemporary ones. I think it's somewhat off-base to call worship leaders and singers showoffs. It's not up to us to judge their motives.

    They probably have a conservative view of baptism and want to make sure you know the magnitude of the decision. I am 95% sure they probably don't allow childhood baptism if they make you go through this. Just talk to them about your concerns and I'm sure they will make an exception.
