  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How To Combat Guilt That Is Dragging You Down.

There are behaviors in your life that seem to testify against you? Things like: The little white lies I tell—and then hate myself for telling. The temper that flares, followed by regret. The overeating. The selfish impulses that cling to me like rotting flesh. What do I do with these...

Is Santa Mythology based on Odin?

This brings up an interestiong point. The Puritans were deeply serious about obedience. Their concern was that Christmas had no explicit biblical command and had absorbed pagan customs and moral excess. In their minds, removing it was an act of faithfulness. And yet, this moment in history...

Are professed Christians that worship our Lord on Sunday instead of Saturday sinning?

Is Sin Simply Transgression of the Law? Scripture does say that sin involves lawlessness, a bit broader than simply transgression of the law.. “Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.” (1 John 3:4) Note that committing sin breaks the law. But the Bible does not limit...

Ellen White on the mark of the beast for those that worship on Sunday

I appreciate the thoughtful and serious way you are approaching Revelation and the closing events. It’s clear you have spent time studying these passages, and I agree with you on an important point: Scripture must define its own symbols, and careless claims about the mark of the beast should be...

Thoughts on obscure passages Jer 13:1-7

Jer13:1 This is what the Lord said to me: “Go and buy a linen belt and put it around your waist, but do not let it touch water.” 2 So I bought a belt, as the Lord directed, and put it around my waist. 3 Then the word of the Lord came to me a second time: 4 “Take the belt you bought and are...

Was Jesus more of a leftest or a right winger?

Godis above all. To often we place God down stream from politics, popular culture, and worldly endevors.

Was Jesus more of a leftest or a right winger?

I’m increasingly convinced that the real issue beneath many of our political, moral, and cultural failures is not simply which system we choose, but whether its guiding mores are genuinely shared rather than imposed. Any community without commonly held moral commitments will eventually...

Adventists at the Crossroads of Legalism and Righteousness by Faith

Some do, but some do not. I have met Christians who believe that if you haven’t been baptized yet, you are lost. There are all sorts of different works that people from different denominations believe are required for salvation. Yet beyond all of that, there is the body of Christ, where you find...

Adventists at the Crossroads of Legalism and Righteousness by Faith

So sad. The only thing we can do is sincerely pray for people who hold such beliefs. They are in bondage and prayer can help them escape it.

    Christmas and Legalism

I think the frustration being expressed is understandable, especially when people feel pressured during a season that can already be emotionally heavy. That said, depending on the company one keeps, there can be just as much pressure not to engage in holiday activities as there is to engage in...

Adventists at the Crossroads of Legalism and Righteousness by Faith

Of course, neither of us knows all Adventists, so we can’t make sweeping claims. However, I do know a few Adventists through relatives who do not hold that Sabbath observance is a test of faith. Anyone who does make it a test of faith falls into legalism—at least insofar as they hold it that...

Adventists at the Crossroads of Legalism and Righteousness by Faith

SDA's are not monolithic. If anything, I think they are coming out of legalism as a denomination, but whether one is a legalist or not is not dependent upon any official position of any church. It is dependent upon the state of one's personal relatiosnship with God. The official position on...
