  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Conversion Stories

The main belief that drove me away was the ordination of women. It started out as a couple women in the congregation being ordained as "evangelists" which meant that they couldn't be a pastor of a home church. However, since we left that church, the pastor has retired and one of the women...

When and why did Ecumenical Councils stop being infallible, or at least, inspired?

As a Roman Catholic that has Southern Baptist parents, I've been following this thread with amusement and at times frustration. I'm not about to delve into the argumentation, but to make a couple comments. In doing a brief study of the history of the Bible (admittedly from a Catholic...

Two Jehovah Witnesses came to my door today

When I was younger, two female JWs knocked on my door. They were a little shocked when I opened the door in nothing but my underwear. I had just got out of the shower and I like to air dry :). In the past 10 years I think JWs have only been back once or twice, but it has always been when I...

    I Have a Creed

I like it, but I agree with the other poster that it could certainly be said of a lot of non-christians.

    Gods Church, being restored

It's definitely an organism, but I think it is also an organization. I don't think think it has to be an either/or situation.

Evangelical Pastor calls "Mormonism a cult & Mitt Romney not a Christian!"

Mormonism is a cult. Cults are systems of belief that effect the society in which they are located and as such are the basis for the word 'culture.' Whether or not Romney, or Mormons in general, are Christians is a completely different question.

Hank Williams -- I'll Keep the USA, You Keep the Change!

I like the song more because of it's anti-socialist bent than because of the anti-fox and espn part.
