  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does willful sin separate the elect from God?

I would be interested sometime in hearing your objections to Divine Determinism. I am always curious to hear other perspectives. Grace to You and Peace!

Does willful sin separate the elect from God?

There is a Proverb I like to quote because I don't think it can get any more cut and dry. Proverbs 16:4 NASB The LORD has made everything for its own purpose, Even the wicked for the day of evil. Consequently the very next verse is: Proverbs 16:5 NASB Everyone who is proud in heart is an...

Does willful sin separate the elect from God?

I differ in the sense that I believe Genesis was literal when it said that God has finished all his works from the beginning to the end. Me personally I find the miracle of our existence so outside the realm of imagination that it could not have been anything short of the act of an all powerful...

Does willful sin separate the elect from God?

I think you are missing the point and putting too much faith in the will of man. Do you believe in Total Depravity? Sure, have a willing heart to obey God's word, such is an evidence of the Spirit, but there is no scripture which tells us that we are capable of being in obedience without the...

Does willful sin separate the elect from God?

Psalm 40:4-13 NASB How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust, And has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood. [5] Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which You have done, And Your thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with You. If I would declare...

Does willful sin separate the elect from God?

Nobody is saying that the regenerate, born again believer, who has recieved the Holy Spirit as a Gift from God is the same as they were before it being recieved. This is precisely why in multiple passages of the scripture the evidences of the Holy Spirit are listed and described. Our Principle...

Serious Question, Does God hate "Some" people ?

Correction, it wasn't a Proverb, it was something the Lord said during the Woes: Matthew 23:23-24

Serious Question, Does God hate "Some" people ?

I'm not sure what difference it makes if someone who Loves the word of God studies Greek in their spare time or not. Are there not folks on this Earth who spend their free time trying to create nuclear reactors in their garages? There are plenty of ways to study Greek outside of a seminary...

Does willful sin separate the elect from God?

I cant stress that enough to my friends. You don't know how to pray? Ask Jesus to teach you. You can't understand a passage in scripture? Ask Jesus to teach you. You can't escape something which is crushing your spirit? Ask Jesus to heal you. Your soul is rent in half by the woes of life...

Does willful sin separate the elect from God?

Amen! I have had the exact same experience. There is no conviction that I could build up in my heart that was powerful enough to get away from sinning. Prayer on the other hand, and trust in God as the only thing which can save me from my flesh has been the most wonderful thing. Never in the...

Serious Question, Does God hate "Some" people ?

I get what your saying about the speech in 1 John, but part of me feels that these passages are referring to the gift of the Holy Spirit, and not necessarily making a possessive case that "Love of God" is somehow reserved for just those whom he predestined. 1 John 2:15 This is the line which...

Serious Question, Does God hate "Some" people ?

Wel that's the point of the tense if the verb in the sentence. It is not a past, present, or future. It would be the same thing as saying: What does God love? The answer to which is: the world. What demonstration of his love is there? That he sent his son to die. For what reason did he have to...

Does willful sin separate the elect from God?

Philippians 2:1-11 NASB Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, [2] make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on...

Does willful sin separate the elect from God?

I understand what you are getting at Phil, but this idea that you can be a perfect likeness of Christ is not biblical. He was the only begotten Son. To believe that you would have to remove most of the New Testament. Nobody is equal to Christ, and to claim that you are is blasphemy. I'm sorry...
