  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Price of crude oil almost back to pre-Iran war levels

maybe, maybe not Consider the 10-year effect if the gulf countries pay $300B in tolls compared to $300B in a rebuilding fund. Also, what do you think happens to the retail price of oil if the Saudis cost of production goes up by the amount of these tolls. I don't think that there would be a...

Price of crude oil almost back to pre-Iran war levels

And each country will take the money out of Iranian money being held by them and from their supposed contributions to the rebuilding fund.

Price of crude oil almost back to pre-Iran war levels

No one knows what will happen in 60 days, or 30 for that matter. As far as the US is concerned, we need to get help to remove the mines and decide on priorities' first: fertilizer, natural gas and helium. Then oil. Tolls are low down the list of concerns at this point. For me, tolls wouldn't...

Price of crude oil almost back to pre-Iran war levels

Almost everyone, including me, believes that this war was a major mistake. Even more think that continuing after a couple of weeks and imposing the blockade compounded the error. There are different views on the June 2025 war.

Price of crude oil almost back to pre-Iran war levels

Even a partial opening of Hormuz should keep crude oil prices at near pre-war levels. A full opening would likely lead to larger decreases. Countries have taken many steps to deal with lower supply for the Middle East. Also, the world economy is down some, thus leading to lower demand. More...

    American Democracy Needs Reform

Of course, we could have the great improvement of 18-year term limits for senators, house members and court judges. In addition, no one should be allowed to start an elected term at age 80 or older (perhaps 75 is a better choice). This is NOT discrimination. We have low age limits. These are...

    American Democracy Needs Reform

The US system has many flaws, but it is the best the world has developed. It won't be changed because of a populist attack on its foundations. The US shares values. I listened to speeches today extolling the shared values of the 4 presidents present plus a couple of their opponents (McCain...

"No More Wars" Trump Requesting a Record Defense Budget: $1.5 TRILLION in FY2026

I think that before Trump leaves office, there will be increased sanctions against those countries that finance terrorism, including against Iran. There will be no sanctions attached to their nuclear programs presuming that they meet the terms of the agreement. With regard to the slush fund...

Trump and Netanyahu won when the nuclear facilities were all but destroyed in June of 2025 AND Trump and Netanyahu won as Iran's proxies have been defeated or greatly degraded over the past few years. ============== Trump lost this time when this was failed to produce regime change. He lost big...

"No More Wars" Trump Requesting a Record Defense Budget: $1.5 TRILLION in FY2026

Subject to correction, the highest enrichment is at 60%, with weapons grade being 90%. To make a few bombs, there would need to be 1) further enrichment to 90% (a tough task for the material at the bottom of the mountain) 2) a reliable bomb would need to be built (it is not clear how far they...

"No More Wars" Trump Requesting a Record Defense Budget: $1.5 TRILLION in FY2026

There is no weapons grade uranium now. The issue was and is how long was Iran away from being able to build a weapon. After Obama's deal the clock started 10 years after the deal was signed.' That was not acceptable to Trump. We all can choose to believe that Iran and Trump would have been...
