  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Did not the devil and his demons reject eternal life? They rejected God, their own Creator, and life forever with Him and His Bride. —Why should their penalty be any worse?

Is Hell Annihilationism or Eternal Torment

Be careful about adding your feelings to scripture mollify your miscomprehensions of the nature of God. For example, you reason by your notion of what it means that God is love, that 'unquenchable fire' ends, but Scripture doesn't say so.

Do God take way your bond to nature before entering Heaven?

There are huge themes in Scripture dealing with the difference between our Temporal economy and God's economy. Good descriptions often run in terms such as this Temporal being enveloped by, or swallowed up into, overwhelmed by, the Eternal. We are told that this present is but a vapor compared...

    Some clarification...

Why? Scripture to that effect? Can you show that the two are, or are not, the same thing? I'm wondering if, in God's economy, it is a category error to compare the two. But, if the Devil and his hordes are to be punished forever and ever, is God going to show unfair favoritism toward...

    Eternal Companions in Heaven

It might serve you to read all the CS Lewis you can find. He speaks in terms of what we have on this earth being swallowed up into the next. (My words). I think in terms of the things of this world being small representations of what is to come. For example, God is not a father like the...

    Some clarification...

The statement here is necessarily temporal. Therefore, not absolute. That is, you make the claim, "Imperfection cannot exist eternally." But that may be irrelevant to eternity, if eternity is closer to 'timelessness' than to 'forever-after-ness'. Even in a temporal setting, this does not...

I hold a view similar to the Open View of God.

If you've been reading my posts, you know I'm not saying we don't choose. Of course we choose. What do you think choice is? I have done more than to merely assert. I have shown, according to the logical law of causation, that God is the first cause of all that follows, (if God is God, after...

And neither do I. You are using the notion as axiomatic, that if First Cause is the only First Cause (which is logically necessary, BTW), that it means there are no other causes. You don't show how that is so. You just assert it. But it is false. The "Chains of Causation" demonstrate it rather...

Is Hell Annihilationism or Eternal Torment

I used to be, back when I was extremely near-sighted. But it didn't last long. I had a radial keratotomy done (precursor to lasic) and ever since, a star looks like about 8 main ones, with a bunch of streaks and other distortion around them. Had to give it up 35 or 40 years ago. Had a real nice...

Is Hell Annihilationism or Eternal Torment

You say, "Death does not need to be described in anthropomorphic terms, neither does life." Yet, that is all you have done here. You define them by your point-of-view." Even when you use scriptural terminology, you don't know more than what little you know, just like me. Can you say, WHY, or...

Is Hell Annihilationism or Eternal Torment

There's only ONE verse?? I'm not going to argue the point, but I think most who go with ECT would disagree. Meanwhile, all the arguments I've heard for annihilation are also suspect. Consider, for example —do we really know what God means by "destruction"?

Is Hell Annihilationism or Eternal Torment

So lack of evidence is evidence of a lack. Does the word, "death", there, imply annihilation, or maybe a process best described by the word, "death", for lack of a more useful anthropomorphism? Do we know what life is? How do we know that the second death is a final end of existence, instead...

I hold a view similar to the Open View of God.

It occurs to me that, by this particular verbiage, you may have in mind direct causation, and not indirect: "...because God created me in such a way so that I can only choose what is predetermined." It is not merely a matter of what you can or cannot do. It is a matter of what you WILL do...
