  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How do you, as Christians, make your children use the right software?

thanks for answering. First of all, sincere congratulations for your way to monitor your children's online behavior, which I fully approve, and for helping them to learn new technologies. As a matter of fact, however, you didn't answer to what I asked. This may be my fault, please accept my...

How do you, as Christians, make your children use the right software?

of course there is nothing un Christian, or bad in any way, in doing it without realizing the implications. The problem is when one REFUSES for whatever reason to realize the implications, that is when one CONTINUES doing something like this (sending files in formats which can be surely read...

How do you, as Christians, make your children use the right software?

TexasSky and K9_Trainer: please pay more attention and read more carefully before replying. I explicitly said in the INITIAL post of this thread "Sorry, I'm new here so I can't post URLs yet". I never confessed anything like you say, I know perfectly what the problem is and I said it. You...

How do you, as Christians, make your children use the right software?

while this may happen, this is a really extreme case. 99.999% of digital documents existing today simply don't present this problem, so I don't see the point to bother about such exceptions, not until there has been understanding of the basic issues (not referring to you, lawtonfogle, I mean in...

How do you, as Christians, make your children use the right software?

All the things you mention are bad, but it is important to understand why and how they are possible and come to be bad. The first thing to point out is that, as soon as you EMAIL to somebody, or PUBLISH online, a text, presentation or spreadsheet in office 2007 format, YOU cause the SAME...

How do you, as Christians, make your children use the right software?

OK. No problem. But then please do proofread before posting, or just don't be surprised if people find hard to understand you. Also because some things ("such a short a long amount of time" or "it tells us not to use the gifts God has given us but not others") are not one-character typos, but...

Christian inspired software usage in Christian colleges and schools

Greetings, Being a novice here, I still cannot include direct links in a post, so I must ask you a bit of patience: please have a look at these pages (you can find them very quickly by placing the titles as I pasted them below, quotes included, in any search engine): "Free Software's...

How do you, as Christians, make your children use the right software?

First of all, please accept my apologies for answering so late. Let me start from your last comment. Seeing how this thread has gone so far, however, I understand why you say: "Most of your questions are nonspecific and somewhat confusing. Ask a better question, and you'll get a better...

How do you, as Christians, make your children use the right software?

Wrong, sorry. More exactly: with HTML, PHP and other formats it is POSSIBLE to create pages which works on all computers and with all browsers. But using HTML, PHP etc... is, in and by itself, absolutely NO guarantee that a web page will really be accessible to all users, including people with...

How do you, as Christians, make your children use the right software?

Computers and the Internet are communication tools. Please think for a moment, as one quick example, to websites and educational/didactical material of schools and Churches. To use your words, if you purposely publish web pages or class material in digital formats which can only be used...

How do you, as Christians, make your children use the right software?

Greetings, today most of the families who can afford it own a computer, and teenagers appear very skilled with computers. So, very often Christian parents totally ignore that there are ways to choose and use software or the Internet which are, in my opinion, more Christian than others. This...

Hello, and request for help to find the right CF forum

Greetings! I just registered and here are a few information about why I registered and what I hope to find in cf.com, and a few requests about the forums. I am quite interested to find out if and how Christians worldwide (or members of any other faith, for that matter) are coping with...
