  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Maine Progressive

I gave my life to Christ around 12 and shortly after felt an intense calling to become a minister. After a BA from St Paul Bible College (now Crown College) and M Div from Bethel Theological Seminary I was ordained in the United Presbyterian Church and pastored in Minnesota, Indiana and Iowa. By then I had to face my lack of talent and came to realize that others could provide pastoral care much better than I. I returned to college to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and worked in Utah and New York on many projects related to ICBMs. Over the years I have agonized over the tragic drift I perceive in the evangelical Christian community. What used to emphasize spiritual self-disciplines in order to strengthen personal faith and present a witness to the lost has become a group that defines its faith through cruelty and prejudice hidden behind cheap renditions of Biblical themes. Fearful of the world, fearful of change, fearful of others who are different and beholden to immoral powers. It grieves me and distresses me. I have come here to try to better understand and, perhaps, help bring evangelicals back to the roles God has laid out for us in Scripture. Civilly, respectfully, prayerfully and willing to see my own errors. I hope some will engage with me.
