That's where I have the problem. If I believed in an all powerful being that actually did requests, the last thing I'd be would be vague. There are too many stories about Djinn to be making loosely worded requests.

From my perspective, while I believe in neither, the morality of either would depend, entirely, on what effect was being asked for. One thing that does worry me about prayer is the idea of "thy will be done." which, from my perspective, is not only a bad idea, but really, masochistic beyond...

Yah, but who cares? Skip over all that "Love your neighbor" stuff and go straight for the bits that tell you you're infallible in your interpretation of the text. An aside, what's really important to your modern Christian? Jesus, or Genesis? But Jesus spoke about a flood, (among other things)...

The Split is otherwise known as Dadmadeitup. Making things up is a great way to avoid facts. Or evidence. Or, you know, the real world. It's quite a tricky idea. What you do is, make something up. Then make up something else to support the idea that you just made up. Then you make up...

Not a problem at all. In fact I'd say it should be covered, if not in social studies then in a history class. What it should not be taught as, is science.

Because the truth matters? Possibly because there are people that want to ignore evidence in favour of their own interpretation of a particular book, and more importantly, they want to teach everyone's children the origin story from this book, regardless of what the evidence says. Ignoring...
