  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Church of God vs Assembly of God: What's the Difference?

I assume you are referring to the Church of God denomination with headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee, often referred to as Church of God (Cleveland, TN) to avoid confusion). They are both classical Pentecostal denominations. Assemblies of God is a non-Wesleyan or "Baptistic" type Pentecostal...

charismatic church board of elders etc

OK, sure. We all want to listen to the Holy Spirit and then obey. Nevertheless, many times the Holy Spirit's will is not suddenly announced or revealed. Many times, the will of God has to be sought through prayer and fasting. Many times the Holy Spirit doesn't make His will known but instead...

charismatic church board of elders etc

My father and uncle served on the board of our church for years. Board meetings were "closed." I'm not sure if a church member ever actually asked to sit in on the meeting, and I'm not sure if they would have been allowed to sit in. Like others have said, there are personal issues that must...

    Racism or Diferent cultures ?

Benjamin, you need to understand something. What you describe as "Pentecostal" sounds strange to American Pentecostal ears. American Pentecostals have always clapped their hands in obedience to biblical commands, "Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy!" (Psalm...

    Racism or Diferent cultures ?

You won't "accept" them? Yet, Jesus died on a cross so that you might be accepted by the Father. Seems that we should "accept" everyone in the Spirit of Christ who died for all that all might be reconciled to the Father. What exactly is a "charismatic way of worship" and how does it differ...

I have two questions regarding tongues ?

That just isn't true. If you look throughout history there are plenty of indications that manifestations such as glossolalia were observed and described. Parham was seminal in formulating the doctrine of initial evidence, but he did not "invent" Christian glossolalia. In addition to 1...

I have two questions regarding tongues ?

Exactly. Ever witnessed two people both trying to interpret at the same time LOL. Talk about church drama.

    Interpretation of tongues

You mean Catholic Answers? I pray and sing in tongues. A lot of times I will switch back and forth into English. However, I've never given a message in tongues in church nor have I interpreted one. I've never been burdened to interpret it either. My aunt told of a time when she was at...

I have two questions regarding tongues ?

You have faith that the Holy Spirit has placed gifts in the church and that He is in control. We should also keep in mind that there is a spiritual gift known as distinguishing between spirits. These people would be able to discern if something was off with a tongue or interpretation. It's...

Whats the diference between The CoG and AoG ?

You're welcome. Both the Assemblies of God and the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) are solidly Trinitarian. I would expect anyone teaching Oneness in these denominations would face heresy charges. Well, ultimately, all Pentecostal denominations have roots in the Holiness Movement, whether...

I have two questions regarding tongues ?

I'll answer this from a classical Pentecostal perspective. First, let me clear up some confusion that has been introduced into this thread on the nature of tongues. An unknown language spoken as the Holy Spirit gives the utterance can either be xenoglossy (foreign language) or glossolalia...

Whats the diference between The CoG and AoG ?

Both the AG and the COG (Cleveland) are classical Pentecostal. Both denominations have their fair share of PINO congregations (Pentecostal in Name Only). I live in the USA, so my answer reflects American realities. I make no claim as to what things are like in other parts of the world...

    Starting w/ Pentecostalism

For Pentecostal theology, I would suggest these works: Foundations of Pentecostal Theology by Guy P. Duffield and Nathaniel M. Van Cleave (both pastors in the Church of the Foursquare Gospel). This would be good as an overview of the theology of Foursquare and Assemblies of God type groups...

Do Pentacostals Still Believe In Continuationism?

Pentecostals are by definition continuationists. However, there are "functional cessationists" within Pentecostal churches. They do not move in any of the supernatural gifts, and they don't really expect miracles to occur. Their lives are no different from non-Pentecostal Christians. In many...

    Full of the Spirit?

Why do you think being slain, and wild bodily movements and spasms indicate being Spirit filled? Holy Scripture tells the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 4) and the gifts of the Spirit (Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4, 1 Peter 4) and what kind of people will not inherit the Kingdom of...
