  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Look guys. I really don't have time for this. There's obviously a couple of intelligent people on this forum but the rest? It is illogical to assert that something is true by basing it on something whose truth has yet to be proved. An example is that you base your claims of proof on the...

Oh, it's going to be one of those days, I can tell. How do you know that god exists outside of what science measures? Where's your proof? Before you get to claim what god said, according to scripture, you first have to prove that scripture is accurate. How do you know that scripture isn't...

The fact remains that people with PhDs (Robert Price has 2 and Richard Carrier has 1) are taking this thing seriously and take their info on tour around the country that fill lecture theatres and auditoriums and debate Theists in public and make you tube videos that attract almost half a million...

It isn't the role of science to provide purpose. That's for the individual to find. This life we have actually exists. You do not know you are off to a better place. That is supposition. The percentage play is to go with the sure thing. That's not its purpose. You may as well blame an...

Suppose what you will. But given that Tacitus doesn't tell us, your suppositions are just than and inadmissible as evidence. Again, inadmissible as evidence since it is supposition. We know what happened to JFK because we had technology back then which recorded the incident. There was none...

And I accept your claim that you believe that jesus rose from the tomb just as long as you don't state that he actually did - for then we will require proof.

Within modern Christianity there remains pervasive misunderstandings regarding the date(s), authorship and transmission of various portions of the New Testament. One of the most prolific New Testament authors was the Apostle Paul. Of the fourteen Epistles credited to Paul, the current...

And you can prove that heaven exist, can you? And you can prove that heaven contains a library, can you? And you can prove that the books in the library contain wisdom and knowledge can you?

On that basis and using that wording, I accept your claim.

True but it has to be done but, for that to happen, it has to be called out and someone has to do the calling. Besides, talking about what jesus supposedly said without first being able to prove that jesus actually existed seems a tad illogical to me. Talking about a book containing commands...

My statement related to an earlier post that stated that christians don't need to prove god, they just have to believe it and was meant to reflect how illogical statements like that are.

Logic is a process of the cognitive domain. Faith belongs to the affective domain. Why should logic apply to it? I think you re confusing faith in God with making falsifiable claims about God. Logic doesn't apply to faith. The problem here is that I ask for proof. All I get is faith and...
