  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Defending the KJV by D.A. Waite

    D. A. Waite's book DEFENDING THE KJB is inaccurate in several of its claims. One example is his claim that there are only 421 changes that affect the sound of words between the 1611 edition of the KJV and today's KJV. Waite did not even count and list one-half of the actual changes found...

    Would you read the KJV?

Many words in the 1611 edition of the KJV differ from or were changed from the words used in one or more of the pre-1611 English Bibles of which the KJV was a revision. Some of the changes that the KJV made in the earlier Protestant English Bibles were because the KJV translators followed or...

What's really the agenda of those who oppose the KJV only (in English) doctrine?

Even if you supposedly had an infallible inerrant translation, could you accurately say that your understanding of that translation is 100% infallible?

    King James Bible

The NKJV is based on the same original language texts as the KJV.

    Charity

According to the rules of King James, the KJV was officially a revision of the Bishops' Bible. The unpopular Bishops' Bible had been the second authorized English Bible, authorized for use in the state churches. One reason that the Bishops' Bible was so unpopular among the common people was that...

    Does this site build faith?

The 1611 KJV was officially a revision of the Bishops' Bible. At a good number of verses, there are greater differences between the Bishops' Bible and the KJV than you could find between the KJV and later English translations of the same underlying original language texts such as the 1833...

    Does this site build faith?

Are you implying that English-speaking believers before 1611 did not have the word of God? If we do not need more than the KJV, why do you seem to add the man-made KJV-only theory to it that is not taught or stated in the KJV?

    King James Only? I'm confused.

Who claims that people have to be Greek and Hebrew scholars to understand the gospel? The KJV-only view still depends on some trust in scholarship--the scholarship of the Church of England translators of the KJV or the claimed scholarship of those who recommend or trust the KJV translators'...

The NIV is not the Word of God

I have not recommended the NIV. Regardless, if you are making or repeating such serious accusations against a translation such as the NIV, you should be willing to provide evidence for them and provide some definitions for the terms in your accusations. Valid standards or requirements for...

    King James Only? I'm confused.

So far as I know, Zondervan does not publish the NKJV. Zondervan does publish some editions of the KJV. Thomas Nelson is the publisher of the NKJV.

    King James Only? I'm confused.

King James I was not a translator, but that does not mean that he did not have a great influence on the KJV. King James I appointed Archbishop Richard Bancroft to be overseer of the translating. King James I approved the rules that were made for the translating, and he approved the list of...

Which KJV edition is the only accurate translation?

You are repeating an old, inaccurate KJV-only claim. All the changes made in the 1611 edition of the KJV were not just "minor corrections in spelling and grammar, and the style of print." Have you ever carefully compared the text of the 1611 edition with the present-day KJV editions? Have you...
