  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What sends a person to hell...?

This might not seem a complete answer, but I think it is the most accurate: the Bible talks about the judgement and judgement day, when Christ judges the world. Christ died to save the "sins of the whole world" so he can forgive whomever he wants to and condemn whomever deserves it. He gives us...

Jesus did not come to save the ((world))

There is no actual conflict between God's sovereign choice and man's free will. It is merely a more complicated thing to effect someone's will. Take children, for instance. It is the parents job to shape their lives until they are grown. Some foolishly think they are to do this without the...

Jesus did not come to save the ((world))

I see you have "Calvinist" as your theology. I assume, by your statement, that you are a five point Calvinist who believes Jesus did not die to pay for the sins of the whole world. Odd that you are siting scripture to make your point, since there are dozens of scriptures that say he died for the...

Sex... losing a part of yourself!?!?

I was slow to respond because the real evidence of the loss of self from sexual promiscuity is seen in life more than in the Bible - but you only quoted half the passage. It says that every other sin is OUTSIDE of yourself, which strongly implies that this issue effects the INSIDE, and it does...

Sex... losing a part of yourself!?!?

What the Bible says about it is that "every other sin is OUTSIDE THE BODY, but the sin of sexual immorality is inside." It affects your bodily responses in a permanent way.

Sex... losing a part of yourself!?!?

I disagree. I found, as a youth pastor, that I had to teach purity about every three months, because after that much time the "if it feels good do it" attitude of the schools permissive sexual mores had reprogrammed them to think sexual urges were not to be controlled. I don't know what the...

    Can I be saved

J Jesus rejects no one who comes to him for salvation (John 6:37). I'm not sure what you meant when you said Jesus rejected you, but he is not like that. He WANTS everyone to come to him and will not turn anyone away.

    Can I be saved

No way you are wasting your time! God is merciful and will, by his own promise, not reject anyone who comes to him for salvation. In fact scripture is very specific about homosexuality; he NEVER says that a homosexual DESIRE or tendency is sinful. He only says that homosexual PRACTICES are...

Who here believes we can conversate with God on the daily

After talking with some atheists who said that same thing: talking to God is religion but hearing from God is insanity, I asked a crowd of Christians how many of them have "heard" God speaking to them. It was more than 75% of them that said, "Yes! God speaks to me!!" I remember being burdened...

Relationship Advice..I don't know what to do

You are very brave to be so open about your feelings and the situation. I was trying to, from your context, determine if you had a physical/sexual relationship with her, or if it was pure; that makes so much difference, and we can no longer assume that Christians even believe in that type of...

    How hell can make sense...

good point. I have always had a mathematical problem with the concept that all creatures are reincarnated souls because, at one point presumably, there were a few million living creatures on the planet, and now there are trillions. The scripture does say that man is destined to die "but once"...

    How hell can make sense...

I used to hold my hand under hot water as long as I was able and then think, "If this was hell, I wouldn't be able to pull my hand away." Later I came to question what I call the "Sunday School Version" of hell. One thing that gave me some hope is that I realized that in the story of the rich...

    Do These Acts Break Commandments?

In Acts there is the early church's decision on what needs to come forward from the Old Testament. It lists three things; one dealing with false gods, which the OT says a lot about, one dealing with sexual issues, which the NT tends to simply conglomerate around "sexual immorality" but the OT...

    Do These Acts Break Commandments?

My take on the adultery issue, mental adultery I think you called it, is that you cannot commit adultery as a single person by desiring another single person. If this was wrong, nobody could get married.
