  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

question on alcohol and sin etc

Went though this same thing dear brother or sister. I felt so convicted for a good while... This was a period of deep sorrow and fear of punishmemt.. far from the blessed assurance of forgiveness in Christ. Just put it down. You have to come to the point where you know the juice just isn't worth...

[moved] When you don't believe but don't negate either

As far as the "feeling pulled" goes - maybe the feeling of uncertainty but still being curious about the truth of jesus is the feeling you think youre missing. I dont feel my brain firing off signals to tell my arms to move but my brain is certainly doing that. Faith is less about a feeling and...

What lead you to be a non-denom?

I consider myself just a christian. And any church that I feel teaches and lives by the fundamentals that God is the Father, Son, and Spirit, the totality of what He did and does for us, and that we are all sinners in need of a saviour is fine by me. Bible has to be the number one Rule of Faith...

Does the Bible teach works must follow God's grace as a part of our salvation?

I think that this is the post that every christian in this thread can agree with. How many else think so? Let's find the middle ground here and promote some unity!

Does the Bible teach works must follow God's grace as a part of our salvation?

Micheal Collum said "James offered an alternative for his rule oriented disciples in his letter, he invented this concept called the law of liberty, it's not about following the mosaic law, it's about the loving your neighbour as yourself, not showing favouritism, and helping the unfortunate and...

Does the Bible teach works must follow God's grace as a part of our salvation?

It's easy to frame it extremely like that. But what about the white lie? What about the lustfull glance at a woman or man? What about all the other SEEMINGLY small sins that get committed willfully or even unwillfully. Because the book of James makes it emphatically clear that he who...

Catholic vs. Protestant – why is there so much animosity?"

Maybe I should have added that the collective agreement of these revealed things let's you know that they are true. Lets say for instance you have your average unchurched person. Give them a bible paired with an honest desire to be made wise for salvation and I beleive the core fundamentals that...

Catholic vs. Protestant – why is there so much animosity?"

I beleive the bible to be the infallible rule of faith and doctrine for the christian, individually; and the church collectively. Earlier in the thread someone made mention (in defense of the catholic view on tradition) that it's dangerous for one person to have his own interpretation of...

    I don't know God's love

Love isn't always a feeling bro. Just pray those things to the Lord and ask him to grow you in your love for him and your understanding of his love for you. Rev up your RPMS. Read. Pray. Meet. Share/Serve. A car doesn't go anywhere unless you push the gas. Never give up.

Can anyone provide an alternative to determinism or non-determinism?

I don't think the 'cause and effect' is that linear when dealing with free will. Something my girlfriend says could cause me to respond in many different ways, for example. Or nor at all... either way the preceeding 'cause' is just there, it's up to me how I choose to respond. All things work...

What is the correct denomination or faith?

You gotta understand that you will always have different views on certain things. Highly unlikely you will follow ONE specific denominational set of belief. As long as you affirm the fundemental's and understand that worship style is different for everyone, you should be good. Gotta beleive in...

    OSAS Discussion

I would add the option "God's grace allows us to be reconciled to Him and trains us in righteousness"

Are there different definitions of the "once saved, always saved" doctrine?

Quick question.. personally (if you don't mind answering, you don't have to feel pressured) was there a time in the past since you've been saved that you have sinned?
