  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is a confusing statement. Convince: to move by argument or evidence to belief, agreement, consent, or a course of action. If belief requires convincing, and convincing requires evidence and/or argument, then belief cannot truly be something you choose. You said it is a choice. I am not...

Despite the fact that belief is "an action of thought, it may not be controllable by the will. Interpretation of visual stimuli is an action of thought but it is not completely controllable by the will. For belief to be freely controlled by the will, a person must be able to completely change...

Is belief something that is controlled by your will?

    The consequences of creationism.

Unfortunately, that pesky First Amendment to the Constitution throws a wrench into your assertion. It seems that this nation was against your god from the start. They even allowed witchcraft since it is a religion.

    Stupid Biologists and Geologists

Unfortunately, that is the problem. It seems rather strange that a group of people that ask everyone to inspect their life and the consequences of their actions, fail to follow their own advice. Their cursory dismissal of the implications of their statements, doesn't endear me to their...

Please describe what makes a person vulnerable to Satan's deceit. In particular, what is it that makes 99% of all PHD scientists vulnerable enough to claim, after thorough investigation and intimate familiarity with the evidence, that evolution is the method used to create the diversity of life...

    Stupid Biologists and Geologists

Since this option (Satan deceiving the scientists) may let the YEC's off the hook, let's explore it a bit. 1. Satan is powerful. 2. Satan cannot be overcome without the protection of the Holy Spirit. 3. Satan can make anyone not protected, no matter how intelligent, believe anything, no matter...

    Stupid Biologists and Geologists

If anyone can be fooled by Satan, no matter how smart, how is anyone able to find the "truth"? If the Holy Spirit is the revealer of truth that can overcome this deceit by Satan, why hasn't the Holy Spirit touched these scientists so they can spread the "truth" to the people who respect them...

    Stupid Biologists and Geologists

Oooohhh. Not stupid...just gullible. Of course in all this time, not one of those scientists has crossed over to the YEC side and exposed the truth! And of course those scientists are so poorly capable in their own fields of endeavor that they perform no better than slobbering morons...

    Stupid Biologists and Geologists

Actually, I did think of that. However, since this thread is about the consequences of BELIEVING all those scientists are wrong, that consideration is immaterial. If you believe that those scientists, who spend their professional lives researching these very issues, are completely off the mark...

Ok. I'll try to understand that you lack the ability to use subtlety or sarcasm without a picture to point it out. A point we both can agree on. I think the politics has more influence on the next generation than the professionals do. Probably true but immaterial to this particular...

And yet you rail against what these non-scientists believe. Your tone is is angry indicating great emotional involvement. It is important, therefore, what non-scientists think. They vote and write and teach their children, affecting generations to come. What they think matters. As a lay...

    Stupid Biologists and Geologists

peteos, I am well aware of the hundreds of thousands of professional biologists and geologists that profess evolution and ancient earth as fact. Just because a great many people misinterpret the evidence provided by God, doesn't mean the literalist believers should believe them. You say...

    Stupid Biologists and Geologists

Saying that not all people believe they are experts is not an insult. Nor is stating that not everyone thinks they are completely honest. These are statements of fact. YEC point of view is that the journals are biased against creationist views regardless of their veracity. The rest of your...
