  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Genesis 3:15

If God is omniscient, he would have known ahead of time that Satan would try to gain access to the garden to trick Adam & Eve. If God is all powerful, he could easily have prevented Satan from entering the garden. Either God is neither omniscient or all powerful, or he WANTED Adam & Eve to fail...

    Genesis 3:15

If you read Isaih 48:17, it makes it clear that the "redeemer" is YWH. There is no mention of God having a son who will later come to redeem Israel. The redeemer is already there, to redeem Israel from Babylon. I don't see any difficulty with this chapter UNLESS you are reading it from the...

    Genesis 3:15

If what you are implying is correct, then sin was already in the world with Satan. So Adam & Eve aren't to blame for sin entering the world. God allowed Satan into the garden, bringing sin with it. The best you can say is that Adam & Eve were used as playthings by God & Satan in a sick game...

    Genesis 3:15

How did we get from a story about a snake deceiving eve to it being about Satan & Mary? There is no logical connection there. The story is that Eve & the snake that deceived Eve will have enmity towards one another, or hate one another for the rest of their days. Both Eve & that snake are dead...

    Genesis 3:15

Maybe the gospels are also metaphorical. So when jesus was crucified it was actually a metaphor for the future decline of the Roman empire, & when he rose again, it was a metaphor for the rise of islam. A Muslim can easily spin it that way. And no, I don't think that the creation in Genesis is...

    Genesis 3:15

Why would the Jews be expected to believe that Jesus was the son of God? There was no prophecy of a son of God, & jesus had not, & still hasn't, fulfilled the prophecy of the messiah. There was no reason for Jews to believe he was the son of God then & still no reason to believe it now. The...

    Genesis 3:15

The Pharisees are descendants of Eve. They are not descendants of any serpent. They believed in strict adherence to the law of Moses. I am not surprised that early Christians would clash with the Pharisees, & want to discredit them because Christians wanted to do away with the mosaic laws...

    Genesis 3:15

Why would a person reading Genesis need the new testament or Paul to explain it to them? This was written over 1000 years before the new testament or Paul came onto the scene, so those reading it would need to understand it without the new testament. How do we know Paul isn't just making stuff...

    Genesis 3:15

The reason it refers to Eves seed in Genesis 3:15 is because God is only talking to Eve & the snake. God is not talking to Adam here. Seed always refers to descendants. I ask again, who are Satan's descendants?

    Genesis 3:15

I dont think that around the time the story was written many people would be keeping snakes as pets & they were living in a desert environment where the vast majority of snakes encounterd would have been poisonous. We know a lot more about snakes today than back then. You are making the...

    Genesis 3:15

God is talking to Eve & the serpent, so the author of the story would expect the reader to understand that God is referring to Eve, when he says woman. I think you are reading too much into it. Aren't YOU the one who is adding to scripture, by insisting the serpent is Satan, & that the story is...

    Genesis 3:15

I agree that the original serpent in Genesis 3:1 Talked, however there is nothing to suggest it walked upright though it may have, or walked on all fours. The story is to explain why snakes have no legs & slither on the ground & why there is enmity or fear of man toward snakes. It's a simple...

    Genesis 3:15

The main part of the question was who is the seed of Satan? What children (descendants) did Satan have?

    Genesis 3:15

All I can say is, the more that I have discussed Genesis 3:15 with other Christians on here, the less evidence I see for their interpretation, & the more evidence I see for the simple explanation, that its just a story about why man dislikes snakes. It might be tempting to read more into the...
