  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Listen and discern what cost?.

Most of what you're saying is not fact, it's assumption and it has no biblical backing. While it is okay to speculate, I can only advise to make sure you make it clear by saying things like "What if" or "I see it like this". If you read what the bible says about hell, it talks about it being...

    Does God condone entertainment?

I think the arts are inspired by Satan. A lot of them anyway. In terms of books, especially fiction, I think ultimately it is wrong. Movies too. Although it may not be an easy pill to swallow for most, I think it is true because it is lying. If I write a story with made up characters and say...

    why did god create tapeworms

There is no credence in that statement in terms of biblical mention. It is more of an assumption than it is a fact. I think the correct and intelligent answer here is likely just "I don't know". Because in reality, we have no way to determine why.

    I Lost Faith in Christianity

2 Corinthians 3:6 "He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant--not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life." The problem with churches today is that they are founded and perpetuated on tradition, not the Spirit. The habitual and often...

    Is God really omnipotent?

It's likely a flaw in human logic, not a flaw in God. It's the same self-canceling paradox as: "Can God make an apple that's actually an orange?" If it's an orange, it's an orange.

    A Laughing Spirit?

I agree with this. I think it sounds more like an angel than a demon, a fallen angel is bereft of love, compassion, and certainly (from what I understand) doesn't evoke a sense of laughter.

    You Dont Fit!

Thank you for encouraging us. I made a similar topic post about this about styles of dress. My point in it was God made the angler fish, and all creations of God are perfect and sacred. Judging a book by its cover is never good.

New member in need of "New Testament for Dummies"

Mark 4:11-12 New International Version (NIV) 11 He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables 12 so that, “‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never...

Do you judge people based upon their looks?

I remember during my younger years as a goth kid I used to be looked down upon, especially by churchy types. I found that to be pretty ironic then, and even now I kind of get annoyed at the hypocrisy. Anyway... Do you judge someone based off of their looks? Would you disregard my message if I...

So, You call yourself a Christian .....

When I write things, I find references to biblical verses I have either never read or do not have memorized. While lifestyle is something that should be pretty much identical to all the true members of the Body, there are select gifts that each may possess. Consider them unique reflections of...

I have a question for the Non-Denominational forum...!

I'd just like to add that a helpful site to compare all the versions is bible.cc It let's you compare single verses with all the versions stacked on top of one another. This helps you route out inconsistencies or contemplate why "eagles" is used in some older verses while "vultures" is used in...

If I have not love, I am like an animal image

I can only offer the advice to pray for discernment, or to consider differentiating between the teachings of the apostles as men and the teachings of Christ as God. And also the teachings of the apostles as frequent (but not always) messengers of Christ/God.

    I'm not sure anymore

Philippians 1:6 "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." I always think of it this way: The righteousness of a person is not wrought from their own will, but through the transformation of having faith in...

why praying to saints or the dead is sin.

This is the error of the Catholic church and many others. It goes to show you that people are blindly following the teachings of tradition passed down from generation to generation and are not truly seeking within themselves the key to the narrow path or Christ. There are so many axioms and...

Women speaking at a high school conference?

Take heart that the apostles put forth the Word of God, as well as their own experiences and opinions on things. Humans are prone to folly and bias. I'm not holding an opinion for or against the topic in question, but I take all teachings aside from Christ with a grain of salt and with discernment.
