  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Federal agents kill Alex Pretti

Unfortunately the Federal officials are making it nearly impossible for the state to press charges because they have denied access to all the evidence (like the weapon that fired the shots) and are not cooperating. We don't even know the name of agent or agents who fired the shots. The only...

    Federal agents kill Alex Pretti

In my town of Minneapolis Federal agents shot and killed Alex Pretti, a US citizen, nurse at the VA, and cancer researcher, as he was monitoring ICE activity with his cell phone, and after coming to the aid of a woman who had been hit with a chemical irritant. He had a licensed weapon on him...

New documents shed light on Renee Good’s ties to ICE monitoring efforts in Minneapolis

Federal prosecutors were told not to investigate the conduct of the officer but rather to dig up dirt on Renee Good's partner. And state Prosecutors were denied access to the evidence.

Grinning anti-ICE agitator arrested after allegedly punching Florida trooper as DeSantis warns: ‘This is not Minneapolis’

Can we limit the debate to the issue of immigration? As I said, analogies are not arguments. At best they can only explain arguments that are made explicitly.

Grinning anti-ICE agitator arrested after allegedly punching Florida trooper as DeSantis warns: ‘This is not Minneapolis’

What follows is a series of inapplicable analogies that do not address the specific issue at hand and it's uniqueness. (See my previous post too.) Inapplicable because the issue is purely monetary. It does not put human life in danger to observe the grazing law, which may or may not be a good...

Grinning anti-ICE agitator arrested after allegedly punching Florida trooper as DeSantis warns: ‘This is not Minneapolis’

The situations you mentioned are not comparable to the situation in Minnesota. Calling their presence here a crime without discriminating between crimes falsely equates all infractions, blurring distinctions that are significant. The presence of undocumented immigrants in Minnesota is not like...

Grinning anti-ICE agitator arrested after allegedly punching Florida trooper as DeSantis warns: ‘This is not Minneapolis’

When considering the totality of the early Civil Rights protesters, the difference in who is doing the protesting disappears. Large numbers of middle class whites joined the protests and marches in the 60's. There were many white abolitionists in the pre Civil War era. There are many...

Grinning anti-ICE agitator arrested after allegedly punching Florida trooper as DeSantis warns: ‘This is not Minneapolis’

As I said, the planned protests that have been going on in Minnesota ever since June 14th of last year ("No Kings day") have been similarly well-behaved. As ICE arrived those protests naturally became "ICE OUT" protests. (By the way, for Minnesotans, the term "ice out" has another meaning. It...

Grinning anti-ICE agitator arrested after allegedly punching Florida trooper as DeSantis warns: ‘This is not Minneapolis’

To the extent that there is any organization associated with this community response it is message lists and social media groups that propose specific places and times for a pre-planned protest so that people can show up at the same time. (This is separate from the ad hoc community responses to...

Grinning anti-ICE agitator arrested after allegedly punching Florida trooper as DeSantis warns: ‘This is not Minneapolis’

Well, I don't care about what a little "planning committee" says on social media or in their little secret planning meetings. The only thing that matters is what is happening out there in the community and on the streets of our community. What we have is an unorganized grass-roots response by...

Grinning anti-ICE agitator arrested after allegedly punching Florida trooper as DeSantis warns: ‘This is not Minneapolis’

Here is the evidence. They are picking up random people of color with guns drawn and demanding to see proof of citizenship. This is even happening to off-duty police officers from several jurisdictions, as reported by several chiefs of police: These are not the actions of those whose...

Grinning anti-ICE agitator arrested after allegedly punching Florida trooper as DeSantis warns: ‘This is not Minneapolis’

No, in that case the purpose of the noise is to impress upon the agents the fact that the community does not approve of their action. Normally people go into law enforcement from a desire to serve and protect the community. When faced with all this disapproval, some ICE agents have backed off...

Grinning anti-ICE agitator arrested after allegedly punching Florida trooper as DeSantis warns: ‘This is not Minneapolis’

The rest of the story is told by the combined news conference of the chiefs of police of the cities around Minneapolis. (Targeting of random persons of color, including off-duty police officers.)
